♥ Your Place of Simplicity ♥

We all have that place that we would love to go for our place of simplicity. It’s the place where we are happy to do nothing, relax......take in the beautiful surroundings, and just have our place of peace and rest. Of course, home is my favorite place to be (as I'm sure it is yours too), but realistically it’s not always calm and peaceful. I’m talking more about that vacation or get-away spot that would fit the above description.

That brings me to my question. For you, which one would be closer to your place of simplicity………the beach or the mountains?

I know for some it’s that cottage on the beach where you kick back and listen to the waves and walking the beach feeling the sand between your toes. Looking out as far as you can see and seeing the water gives some a sense of God's presence.

For others, there’s just something about the mountains that bring that peaceful feeling and sense of awe.  Looking at the handiwork of God's Hand in carving the mountains seems to make them feel closer to God.

I’ll start.

For me, it’s most definitely the mountains. And if it's a cabin in the mountains, all the better!  I don’t have a thing against the beach and love to go every once in awhile, but the mountains are just beautiful to me.  The ocean can make me feel a little lonely.  I'm not sure why, but it sometimes does.  However, looking out over the mountains just gives me a peaceful, calm, restful feeling and makes me feel the awesomeness of my God. I remember one vacation, we were sitting on the front porch of our cabin in the mountains during a thunderstorm and it was the most beautiful thing I think I’ve ever seen…..simply majestic! If I could just take my house and plant it in mountain country, I would be completely living my dream!  And if there was a lake in that scenery or even a creek nearby, it would be heavenly!  :)

So now it’s your turn…….I can’t wait to hear yours!  Would you share your preference (beach or mountains) and why it's your favorite?

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll have Pinned it Made it Monday ready for linking up sometime Sunday evening! I’d love for you to join me!

Have a great weekend!

♥ Tammy ♥

Well... its a real toss up for me. I LOVE the beach ~ something about the sand between your toes and the roaring of the waves, it's so majestic and awesome. I live in the mountains, and every day am blessed by the peace and quiet, the green surroundings, the fresh air, and the calmness here.

I guess for me I would have to choose the mountains ♥ and I agree with you, if there's a cabin all the better:) We don't get to vacation so to speak, but I am thankful for my life here in this beautiful place. This country home in the mountains God has given us is a wonderful blessing. Thanks for the reminder not to take it for granted!

Well,as I am one who hasn't really been privileged to take vacations, either would be a peaceful retreat, but if I had a choice of the two...I do love the ocean and the few times I have seen it I felt such a great sense of God's Majesty and power just looking out into its great vastness, but I wouldn't want to be surrounded by a crowd of people in barely any clothing,if that were the case..I would rather be sitting on the porch of a little cabin with a beautiful mountain before me to set on eyes on :) Blessings

I'm sorry but I simply cannot choose a favorite. I love the beach in summer and the mountains in the cooler weather. They're both magnificent displays of God's handiwork.

I can't choose between the two, either. We end up the beach far more often than the mountains, but that is because the beach is here and close to family. Snowy mountains are work, though, not all that relaxing.

Before I saw your either or question I was thinking more local places....like my back porch, my dining table, my favorite green chair or my wonderful bed. haha :)

I'm a beach girl and would choose a house on the shore. I could spend all day sitting on the porch and looking out over the ocean. However, I was lucky enough to hike up St. Mary's Glacier in Colorado last summer and that was awesome. Definitely a highlight of my life. Stopped by from Sunny Simple.

I must say, since I live in the valley of ridges on 3 sides, and I love it, I LOVE the beach. Not commercialized, no boardwalks, only the white sandy beach and the green waves slapping against it. I love the emerald coast of Fla. I see the vastness of the ocean and all I can think of I am so small, in the scheme of things, but He knows me and loves me.You come up with the BEST blog ideas. Now if I didn't live near the Smokies, I might think differently.

For me, it has to be the mountains! We go to the Adirondack Mountains of New York state often. We used to own cabins there. Now we let someone else wait on us. It is so serene and wonderful laying in a hammock and looking at the sunlight through the trees or watching a campfire at night. The scenery is magnificent. The lakes are beautiful. All of this is God's work and you feel him close by as you walk a path amid the pine trees and smell the mountain air.

I do love the ocean but the mountains will always be my favorite "go to" place.

Thanks, Tammy, this was fun.

I can't choose either of them since I haven't had the privilege. However, my "comfort" place has always been a cabin, I imagine it would be the mountains because of the majestic views and feel of being closer to God!

I love the mountains. Just got home a couple of weeks ago from the Smokey Mountains. Would love to own a cabin there. I do like to go to the beach occasionally but my heart is in the mountains.

The mountains for me! I attended jr. college in the north GA mountains. I love the majestic views, the trees, waterfalls, creeks, walking trails and country stores. Every season in the mountains is gorgeous. Wishing you and yours a blessed Sunday.

I love the mountains! The more rugged with snow all the better! Can't you tell I'm longing for my Montana home? Actually, I love the beach also, BUT, I don't care for all the skin that goes along with it. So when we go, we go when it's too cold for bathing suits. :)

Give me a home nestled in the mountains and I'll be a best friend for ever!

For me it is definitely the beach....simply because that is where I live...or at least just fifteen minutes away. I can have a mini vacation within in minutes and that is a blessing.

I would choose the mountains. Beach is nice but less chance of a sunburn in the mountains! :)

I love the North Georgia mountains in the Fall when the leaves are brilliant, but nothing is as relaxing as soaking up rays by the surf! One of my very favorite memories is a spontaneous prayer meeting on the beach with some new Christian friends. Little did we know that the terror attacks of 9/11/01 were just a few days away. (The gift package you sent to my sister Mildred is delightful! I am enjoying your blog.)

Definitely the mountains for me. I am like you. I love the beach, but it has a way of making me homesick. It's fun to go there but I don't wanna stay too long! We love visiting the Great Smoky mountains. There is just something about the mountain atmosphere that I love!

Hi Tammy,

We can travel to either the mountains or the beach in a day (we're actually closer to the mountains). I love both places for different reasons. But hubby and I have always said we'd love to have a place in the mountains, and there are a lot of pretty mountain towns here in North Carolina.

I'm visiting from Sunny Simple Sundays; have a wonderful day. :)

I've lived in a cabin in the mountains and really enjoyed it! There's nothing like being able to walk out the front door for a hike. But I love the ocean best!

The mountains! I am privileged to live about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the magnificent Smoky Mountains in TN/NC and it's one of my most favorite places to go for a quick weekend getaway. It just soothes my soul every time we go there. Plus, I was born and raised in the mountains of Virginia and I guess the mountains have been and always will be a part of me. I love the ocean too, but find myself a bit overwhelmed when I am standing on a beach and can only see water on the horizon. Both are truly great examples of our Heavenly Father's great awesomeness. For He is the master artist!

Dearest Tammy,
Oh...Your question is so easy for me to answer! I grew up on the beautiful Oregon Coast. When I was a teenager I would spend hours walking along the waters edge talking to God about everything that concerned me. Those were precious times and times that I grew deeply in my relationship with Him. As an adult, when life has been, especially, challenging I have often made my way to the beach. It's there that God has met me...time and time again.
For me...the ocean's edge is truly my sanctuary...a place of peace and healing.
Blessings to you, my sweet friend,
Carolynn xo

We live near the Gulf so I'm blessed to be able to go to the beach each summer plus we camp at a state park twice a year that's right in the water. I feel like any stress I have totally disappears there. We are also fortunate to go to a cabin in Tennessee every other year for a week. I love them both!
