Country (Romantic But Not Primitive) Master Bedroom

Today I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures of our master bedroom. I took these around Christmas time and never got around to showing them on here. So, I hope you don't mind a little Christmas decor in January (and believe me it IS only a little...our two little trees beside the loveseat).

There's not anything primitive about this room, but more what I call romantic country. We haven't worked on putting primitive touches to the bedrooms or bathrooms, although I'd like to do so in at least my guest bedroom for starters. But honestly, I've always loved our bedroom. It's a soothing, calming place to unwind. I also know blue is not "the in thing" now, but I still really do enjoy this blue. It just has a romantic feel to me.

And remember the iron wood burning stove that we got from my aunt? We use it every night and alot even during the day. She ended up giving me the iron tea kettle on top. I think that's just what it needed.

And somewhere....and I apologize but I just don't remember on which blog I read it, but there was a tag that involved looking in your sixth folder and finding the sixth picture. If you remember awhile back, I did this with the fourth folder, fourth picture and it was fun seeing what turned up. I decided to give it a go this time and this is what I found and I wanted to share it with you.

This is my brother, Richie, and his wife, Missy, on the day that he left to go to Iraq. I think this candid shot with the expressions on their faces says it all.
And for the record, he's now home safe and sound with his family after serving four months there. I'd like to say again, thank you, to all our men and women that serve in our military. And a big thank you to their families for the sacrifice they make everyday so they can. I truly admire you! Thank you!

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

PS - I have been reading that blue is coming back.It was used all the time in colonial times because indigo was used as a dye! So you are ahead of the trend!!

I love the blue in your bedroom in fact that's the way I've been going lately:) Barn red and blue have always been my colors so I'm tired of fighting not having the blue, so to speak. Your bed and dresser are unique and the room does look relaxing.
Don't you just love the stove, we as you know put in a insert to the fireplace and it does give off a cozy warmth and the tea kettle keeps humidity in the air.

What a peaceful, pretty retreat! I'm looking forward to working on our bedroom soon. We moved into our house about 9 months ago and I haven't done much to our room!

My brother is in the National Guard and has been close to going to Iraq, but hasn't had to yet. A big thank you to your brother for his service and sacrifice.

Have a great weekend!

My bed is very similar to yours and I love it. I have always loved your bedroom from previous post on CS. Love the stove with the kettle. I have my Nanny's old Kettle but no stove to go with it. Blue for some reason I am always drawn to it.

Thank-you to your brother and all of those who serve this wonderful country!

Love the new blog look--very refreshing change. You saved the old one, right? I don't know how to do it but I see lots of gals are doing it. Congrats!
Your bedroom looks so comfy and cozy. I used to have a room big enough for a loveseat. I miss that.
The blue is very relaxing but I'm not so sure about the borders. Are they in or out now? Love the four poster bed. You make everything look so nice. Oh, to have a romantic fire in the bedroom......
Thanks to your bro and all the servicemen(and their families) who protect us.

My mom has always decorated with blue ... so I'm partial to it too, Tammy. Partly because it reminds me of her and partly because it's such an inviting and versatile color.

Your bedroom does look like a cozy place ... especially with your snow outside.

We got another 10" on Wed. and now we've got about 30" total on the ground. You wouldn't believe the snowbanks!!!

I hope you'll enjoy your weekend, my friend. Stay warm!

Your room is so peaceful that I wouldn't change a thing. That 9 patch on the bed sure adds an prim touch. And I love the sitting area. That would be my reading spot!

Hope you're having a lovely time planning Joy's party!

Your Country (romantic) master bedroom is beautiful Tammy! I love the way you have it decorated! Blue is my most favorite color, and I have read in magazines that blue is making a come back in decorating! :) Your black iron heating stove & tea kettle are sooo neat looking too! You've got a pretty nice Aunt there Tammy!

The picture of Richie and Missy brought back memories of how it was with my husband & I when we had to say Good-Bye to our son Daniel, before he left to go over to Iraq last February for 6 months. So very hard... Thank God Richie, Daniel, Brian, and many other soldiers are safe back home now, that were over there when they were... I'll be so glad when all the soldiers can be safely returned back home, for good..
It just tears at one's heart to have to say good-bye, knowing we won't be able to see each other for X amount of time... and knowing that they are going to be clear on the other side of the world from us!

I thank Richie, Brian, Daniel, and all the other soldiers for serving our Country!

Take Care & have a wonderful weekend Tammy!

Love & Blessings,
~Lynn/Okc

I love your master bedroom!
I so want to organize mine...it's currently out of control, and I really want it to be relaxing haven. Finding time to do all I want to with it is challenging right now, though!

What a poignant photo of your brother and his wife...
I can somewhat relate, since I had to see my newlywed husband off on two different deployments. It wasn't Iraq, however, but I remember the pain of the good-byes...my heart goes out to them but so glad he is home safe!
Thank you for reminding us of those whom are still serving and risking their lives for us...
Hugs,
~Tammy
