Country (Romantic But Not Primitive) Master Bedroom

Today I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures of our master bedroom. I took these around Christmas time and never got around to showing them on here. So, I hope you don't mind a little Christmas decor in January (and believe me it IS only a little...our two little trees beside the loveseat).

There's not anything primitive about this room, but more what I call romantic country. We haven't worked on putting primitive touches to the bedrooms or bathrooms, although I'd like to do so in at least my guest bedroom for starters. But honestly, I've always loved our bedroom. It's a soothing, calming place to unwind. I also know blue is not "the in thing" now, but I still really do enjoy this blue. It just has a romantic feel to me.

And remember the iron wood burning stove that we got from my aunt? We use it every night and alot even during the day. She ended up giving me the iron tea kettle on top. I think that's just what it needed.

And somewhere....and I apologize but I just don't remember on which blog I read it, but there was a tag that involved looking in your sixth folder and finding the sixth picture. If you remember awhile back, I did this with the fourth folder, fourth picture and it was fun seeing what turned up. I decided to give it a go this time and this is what I found and I wanted to share it with you.

This is my brother, Richie, and his wife, Missy, on the day that he left to go to Iraq. I think this candid shot with the expressions on their faces says it all.
And for the record, he's now home safe and sound with his family after serving four months there. I'd like to say again, thank you, to all our men and women that serve in our military. And a big thank you to their families for the sacrifice they make everyday so they can. I truly admire you! Thank you!

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

A Tag, an Award, and Followers?

Sue (The Cotton Patch) recently tagged me. This is the first type of tag that I've done like this and it was actually really fun anticipating what I would find (and maybe a little scary) in my folder for the tag. Here's how it works: You go to the place in your computer where you store your pictures, you look in the fourth folder, and find the fourth picture there and post it. My search made me find a picture that I hadn't seen in awhile and I had to say awww...she's grown up so much! It was Joy posing on the steps of a really cute country church not too far from us. I took the picture in sepia tone. Here it is:

She always has been my little poser!

And second of all, I received the lemonade award from my friend, Becca (Folk Art from the Harbor). Now of course, the rules say I should award it to ten blogs and such, but I've decided to do the same as so many of my fellow bloggers. I am always honored to receive such awards and thankful for the thoughtfulness! I will always graciously accept any awards sent my way and display them on my blog, but I really have a hard time narrowing it down to a few blogs. I think each blog is special in its own way and I love to visit them all. Therefore, I always invite any of my visiting bloggers to take the award for themselves.

The same way with tags....I will do my best to participate in tags as I really do enjoy them, but instead of tagging people, I will invite any interested to join in and take part if they wish. But always, I'm very grateful for the thoughtfulness in including me! So if you're up to it, go find your fourth folder in your pictures, and the fourth picture there and show us what's stored in your computer! :)

And on to my next subject today.....followers. I suppose I've not fully understood the whole following thing. To me, including the blogs that I love to visit every chance I get on my blogroll was the same thing. I see so many adding the follower gadget to their blogs. I went back and read the meaning behind it and realize that it's showing that you are a fan of a certain blog (which still seems similiar to blogrolls to me)! lol! Anyway, I've decided to take a few minutes later this week and go through my blogroll and add my folks as followers as well! I want you all to know that I'm a fan! And...to add the gadget to my blog in the sidebar. If you would like to "become a follower", I'm honored. If you just (like I have been) enjoy stopping by and reading, but choose not to go that route....I'm still honored that you take a few minutes out of your day and thankful for your visits. And if I'm missing the whole point here, somebody can always clue me in...as I'm not always up on the new technology..I just love to write!

And that's all for today, folks! Thanks so much for stopping by and for all your comments! I love them all! It's always a treat to find comments waiting for me! I hope you have a great Wednesday! :)

Tagged, an Award, and a Giveaway!

I was tagged by my friend, Kim, to tell six random things about myself. I recently did one of those, so if I keep telling you six-bits of information, you'll soon learn much more about me, won't you? I actually love doing these, because it challenges me to think about myself a little more....usually it's all about what I need to being doing or doing something for my family. So thanks, Kim, for thinking of me!

Here are the rules:

Link to the person who tagged you. Post the rules on your blog. Write six random things about yourself. Tag six people at the end of your post. Let each person know he or she has been tagged. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Here's what I came up with this time:

1) The first job I ever had was at Wendy's. I was sixteen. At that time, you had to wear a little smock type thing and a scarf bandana type thing around your head. Cute huh?

2) Before I go to bed, I go around picking up around the house...especially the living room...I guess I figure if I can have one room in order and tidy, I feel more in control. I love to wake up to no clutter!

3) It doesn't take much for me to tear up or cry watching a movie or reading a book that "moves" me or pulls at my heart strings. My family is used to this by now!

4) My daddy has always given nicknames to his kids, kids my mom kept growing up, and his grandkids. My nickname was (and is) Toots.

5) I don't feel complete when I leave the house (I feel "naked") if for some reason, I forgot to put on my earrings!

6) Jewelry is nice, but if my hubby wants to really make me happy, he knows all he has to do is build me something, or get me something that I love for my house!

And my Canadian blogging friend, Sandy, gave me the sweetest award, the Perfect Blend of Friendship.
On this one, I am supposed to answer these four questions....so here goes!

1) Do you have the same friends since childhood?
Some of them I am still in touch with and some I'm not...I guess I have a blend of new and old friends.

2) What do you value most about your friends?
That would probably have to be genuineness and loyalty.

3) Are your friends sounding boards?
Sometimes, but mostly my hubby and my mom end up being the sounding boards.

4) What is your favorite activity to share with friends?
Different for different friends...sometimes talking on the phone, sometimes shopping, sometimes homeschooling projects, sometimes decorating, sometimes just chatting online....

And now, I'm going to pass along this award to the same six ladies that I am tagging. Please take the award and if you would like to do the tag, please do so, and if not, that's fine too....I never want to burden anyone with anything! Feel free to pass the award and tag along in whatever way you like!

So here's my six:

1) Carolyn of Cranberry Crossings

2) Tammy of Lattes and Lollypops

3) Julie of Country Girl at Heart

4) Birgit of The Primitive Country Bug

5) Janae of Cozy Coops Corner

6) Wendy of The Cozy Yellow House

And now last, but definitely not least, Sandy at For the Love of Prims is also having this wonderful Christmas giveaway! She is drawing out a winner on November 15th! Hurry over and sign up....it's a very generous giveaway and it sure will put you in the Christmas spirit!

Tag, Awards, Boo, More Giveaways & a "Rare" Photo!

Okay, I know that's quite a collection of things to post about, but I wanted to "catch" up today on a few things on my list!

About a week or so ago, I was tagged by Mandie to tell seven random things about myself. So here goes!

1) I can't chew gum (at least not for long) because it gives me a headache every time!

2) I rarely go anywhere without my camera. And I'm much more comfortable on the taking-pictures-side-of-the-camera!

3) In'm a night owl - not so much a morning person at all - at least I tend to get more accomplished at night anyway!

4) I'be been playing the piano since I was 10 years old. I started playing in church when I was 14 years old.

5) I love log cabins and the whole pioneer era of history.

6) I love teaching kids and have taught kids in some way or the other beginning at church as a teenager. Kids just love you know matter what! I just love kids, period.

7) And should I tell this one? Okay...I hug a pillow when I sleep at night (and of course my hubby too).

Sorry it took so long, Mandie! And the rules say to tag more people, but if you want to play along and tell seven random things about yourself, I'd love to hear them! Consider yourself tagged! Oh, here are the "official rules" though.

1. Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

And Wendy actually offered this award to anyone that hadn't received it. Now I wouldn't have just posted it like that probably, but I thought it was so pretty and when she left a comment telling me she would like for me to take it, she twisted my arm! :) I really appreciate it, Wendy, and I'm honored to display it, as fall is my favorite season! Thank you so much! And Happy Birthday to you today too!

And just today, sweet Karen of Homespun Simplicity awarded me with this blog award! I am very honored, Karen, and will proudly display it on my blog! Karen only started her blog in October, and I think she's doing great! She's on my blogroll and I love visiting her blog! If you haven't visited her yet, stop by for a visit! Thanks SO much, Karen! Now, I'm supposed to pass it on to 15 blogs, however, as you know Karen, it's hard to do! :) I'm going to take the easy way out, but it is my most sincere way too, and honor every blog on my blogroll with it. If you're on my blogroll, I visit your blog because I enjoy it and find it interesting and crafty. Please grab this award for yourself and display it on your blog! Really, I want you to! I'll be looking to see if you grabbed it! :)

And just today, Stephanie booed me! So if you haven't been booed, consider yourself booed too (in the nicesty way of course) and display this on your blog too!

And alot of you have probably already seen these, but there are two more giveaways I'd like to show you.

Angie from Simple Thyme Primitives is giving away THIS in honor of her birthday! Isn't it nice of her to give something away for HER birthday? Thanks, Angie! I think Olde Frosty is just adorable and doesn't he look like he wants to come home with me? :) But I guess in all fairness, I should tell you to click over there and sign up before November 3rd! :) Happy Birthday, Angie!

And another great giveaway going on is over at Simple Needs. Kim is giving away all these great Christmas goodies in honor of her 100th post! I love Christmas so much...I think these want to come home with me too! :) Congratulations, Kim, on your 100th post!

And last of all, but definitely not least, I'd like to share a picture with you taken this past weekend. You see alot of our daughter, Joy, because she's home with me all the time and a willing subject for the camera. Rarely do you see Colt on here because between college, work, a girlfriend, and friends, he just passes through here from time to time and when he is here, he's doing schoolwork and laundry (remember he's our laundry guy!) :) However, this past Sunday, we went to Alabama just for the day so his girlfriend, Amber, could go with us and meet some of our family there. We had a great day and lots of fun, although it was a quick trip. I took this picture of them. He always tells Amber that I take my camera everywhere with me, but she understands because she loves photography too!

Until next time, ya'll have a great day! I hope you get lots of projects accomplished and work completed! It seems like EVERYONE is busy these days! :)
