Joys of Summer

One simple joy of summer (for me) is homegrown tomatoes. And for some reason, our plants just aren’t putting out the tomatoes! We’ve only gotten two this summer so far. So…….since the garden is between my mom and dad and us, they took one and we took the other!

And let me just say that I enjoyed every.single.bite. of my mayo and tomato sandwich. Oh my it was juicy melt-in-my-mouth delicious! It’s so sad that there was only one! Do you like tomato and mayo sandwiches?

Another simple joy (for us) has been our evening bike rides as a family. Well, we’ve been waiting until around 7:15-7:30 p.m. every evening to go because it’s just unbearably hot to go any earlier and five miles is just too far for smoldering heat (for this girl anyway). And did you know that it’s STILL humid even at 7:30?

We’ve had a few days that were cooler in the evenings and they were wonderful! About the time we are rolling back into our driveway, the sun has begun to set. Isn’t it a beautiful time of day?

The ride was just too much for our Little Emperor this particular cooler evening. Jason carried him in and he was out for the night.

I hope you’ve enjoyed many joys of summer and made lots of family memories!  I know fall will be arriving soon, and I for one will welcome it with open arms!  It's my favorite.  Have I said that before?   :)  (I'm thinking how wonderful those bike rides will be on those fall evenings)!

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Unless a afternoon storm is comin up...it's still too hot to do anything here. The mornings are tolerable but I'm busy doing morning duties and can't enjoy the coolness then.

I'm so ready for FALL!!!

Oh Tammy! Thank you so much!!! It's been an emotional time for me & my husband! We are such wimps. God has been so good to us and that little mess of a girl has shown us HIS love over and over again! I'm thankful for her and folks like you that lift us up to the ONE who gives comfort!

Tammy, I LOVE tomato & mayo sandwiches!!! This year for the first time we mixed in the Scott's garden soil enhancer and we have the biggest and best tomato plants we've ever had, must be something in it that they really like because I've not had to add any additional fertilizers at all:)Wish you lived closer, I'd bring you over a big bag!

Mmmmm tomato and mayo sandwiches, so good :)

Love the bike rides. We usually go for a walk and also have to wait until night time because there's no way we'll be walking around with this Arizona heat LOL

Hope you're having a great week. I'm so ready for fall...and speaking of tomatoes, I'm canning salsa and tomato jam today :)

Hugs,
Sandra

What a great way to spend summer. I'm not a fan of Mayo and Tomato sand unless I get to add some bacon to it! I've been knitting in the evening and just let me tell you that when it 88 degrees with 70% humidity out and I have twin size knitted blanket on my lab- well, it's a labor of love, let me just say!!! Enjoy the summer and the heat because Fall is coming.....

It looks so nice and poor sleeping boy. He had a hard workout.
Nothing better than home grown tomatoes.

We did have tomatoes, but now they won't ripen--a ton of green ones, but no red ones.

Oh yum, that sandwich looks delish! It is so hot here even getting up and walking at 6:30 produces a sweat. I have been doing it even though my heart is not totally into it. I can't wait for some gloriously cooler temps. Sigh.

I can't wait for fall like temps! We don't usually have much fall here though. Piping hot to freezing is our usual way to go. We are hoping we will get some rain. Our tomatoes haven't done well at all. They don't like the extreme heat.
I have always been so jealous (working on that) of people who can eat a beautiful, juicy tomato! I want to so bad, but they make me gag most of the time. I really don't know why! Love that you go bike riding as a family.

You little man is so sweet and plumb tuckered out. How nice to have Daddy carry him to bed. Precious!
Oh...These are the Dog Days of August! It's hot here, too. I am thankful that we don't have the humidity to go along with it. I lived in Tennessee for 13 years and remember, all too well, those hot and sticky days. Before we know it, the cool winds of Fall will be upon us.
Blessings, my sweet friend,

I've never tried a tomato with mayo sandwich. I love tomatoes, so I should probably give this meal a try sometime.

I haven't rode my bike in a long time. I should get to riding again, for I truly do enjoy it when I do.

You have a nice blog. I'm glad that I found it today. :)

Tomato and mayo sandwiches are my all time favorite summer sandwich. Have you ever tried a little peanut butter on it along with the mayo? You should try it...it's delicious. The bike rides sound like a lot of fun. It's really humid here in the evening still as well. I am so ready for fall and the cool crisp evenings. Have a great evening. :)

Garden tomatoes are my favorite summertime food also! We weren't able to have a garden this year, because of our move, so I've been going to local farmers markets to get tomatoes....so yummy! Thanks so much for visiting my blog Tammy!
