Back in the summer sometime, you might remember me finding what was probably a bird or squirrel feeder at Goodwill. I'm not really sure that's what it was intended to be. Anyway, I brought it home fairly sure that I could make something primitive out of it.
Here's a before picture:
I painted it black, distressed it a little, added a rusty screw, hung some dried lavender, and put rose hips and cinnamon sticks in the botom. My first intention had been to hang tapers on the nail, but my tapers were too long. However, for a change I may add the little "knubbie" hanging candles when I get some of those.
And Saturday, Joy and I stopped in Goodwill and I was excited to find these two pieces:
The bowl is perfect as is. I couldn't believe it.....no paint required! lol! This was on the first aisle I walked down! And the wooden box has already been painted and distressed as I came in immediately yesterday and got to work on it. I will be filling it with prim goodies (I'm thinking prim ornies, candles, sweet annie, homespun...) and adding it to my kitchen. I'll share it when it all comes together.
And....one more thing....We've been working on the giveaway for my 100th post...so stay tuned!

Great finds Tammy! The Black box looks awesome with the lavender and fixin's.
You sure did a great job on the bird/squirrel feeder that you redid.
How lucky were you to find the crow bowl and holder, I something like that that I found at a yardsale and don't have to do anything to it but I never know what to put in it!

You did find some great things and I love what you did with the feeder. Don't you love it when you find something that you don't have to do a thing with like your bowl? Looking forward to your giveaway.
Those are great! I stop in every once in a while at Goodwill, but don't usually find much. You never know when you'll find a treasure though! Love the lavender on the box !

Tammy, darling squirrel feeder, what an eye you have for repurposing that! It looks great. Dawn
I always love to see what others find at the thrift store. You did well and I love the makeover you gave the box. It kind of looks like a matchbox to hold old wooden matches...not sure though.
Hey Tammy; Love what you did with the feeder. And what a great find with the bowl, and not to have to paint it or any thing that is so great too. I can't wait to see what you do with the wood box. you come up with such great ideas.

I love the transformations, Tammy ... and I can't wait to see what you do with your most recent find! The crow bowl is fabulous as is. What a find!
Everything looks great!
The feeder gave me an idea. I saw this thing on ebay a few months back that was used to put bars of soap in it. I wanted to put one on the wall by my shower so we could easily grab a new bar when we needed one. However, there was only one and it went fast. The right type of squirrel feeder could very well work and we just so happen to have two that aren't being used really....hmmmm.....guess the squirrels will be losing a feeder soon! LOL That all just popped in my head when I saw your made over feeder! How strange, huh?
Have a great rest of your weekend :)

I love what you did with the black box too. I agree with Kim though, I'm almost sure it's a matchbox holder. I can't tell how big it is from your picture though. I have a metal matchbox holder that hung by our wood stove when I was growing up. I have it hanging by our pellet stove now to hold matches when we need one to light a fire. I've never seen a wooden one.
Believe it or not, I was given a matchbox holder as a wedding gift. I have that one hung by our charcoal grill. Your box has brought back some memories for me!
