Autumn Blessings

I've really enjoyed seeing all the autumn decor and the lists of reasons why folks love fall! I thought about that a little bit this weekend and jotted down my thoughts......the things that really say fall for me....the things I look forward to about fall....the signs of fall....really just the little blessings of fall......

The sound of the katydids and locusts in the late afternoon & evenings....

The colorful leaves on the trees, blowing through the air, and crunching
under my feet.....

Tractors in the fields.....

Pumpkins on porches....

The cotton fields ready to be harvested....

Friendly scarecrows....

The fuzzy caterpillars (wooly worms) crossing the road....

The cool crisp air.....

The evening autumn sky.....

Bales of hay and corn stalks...

Indian corn....

The smells of fall....candles burning, goodies in the oven, pumpkin spice,
cinnamon, apples.....

Hot chocolate.....

Being home for longer evenings by lamplight and candles burning.....

Watching a movie with my family all snug in our pj's and covered up with our afghans.....

Snuggling up with the family inside our cozy home for a good read-aloud book......

Inching closer to Christmas.....

And speaking of Christmas....I had this little treasure in today's mail! I have some time that I will be waiting in between appointments today, so it's going right along with me! I love having it to look forward to and take in every little thing!

And I'm going to leave you with a picture of my new treasure! My mom was with me when I purchased this Ball Jar. I loved the shape of it and was talking about what I would put in it. During our conversation, my mom mentioned that somewhere she had the marbles that belonged to my grandmother's brother (that passed away when he was 18)....the marbles he played with as a child. Well last night, my dad found them and brought them over! We were figuring up how old they were and they are probably somewhere between 95-100 years old! Putting them in the jar and just thinking that he played with them that many years ago was pretty awesome! I decided they were perfect for my new (old) jar!

Thanks for stopping by! I wish you all many Autumn Blessings! :)

Oh WOW what a beautiful treasure to inherit :) They look nice displayed in your glass jar...you could even convert the jar over into a lamp.

I can't wait to get my CS...the Christmas one, my favorite of all!

Have a great day :)

I love old stuff but it's even better when you have the family history to go with it! Isn't it just neat to think of who all used your old stuff before you?

I really need to get my Country Sampler subscription...I don't know what I'm waiting for...

Have a great day!

Hey Tammy, love reading your blog every day. I love the shape of the jar. I have a lot of the blue mason jars that were my grandmothers but I don't have any that shape or with a lid. Luck find! And how special to get the marbles too.

How wonderful to have a family antique!! I bet those marbles are worth alot of money!! but nothing compared to the sentimental value!! I love them in the jar, it looks like a nice vignette!! now you need a cozy little lamp and you will be all set (I read somewhere that decorating should be in three's).

Have a great day!

Oh girl I must apologize as I knew some other people had given me awards and I forgot them. I will fix it. I am sorry.

I received my CS magazine the day I got home from LA, but I waited a couple days to read it. I just was too busy. There are some great homes in there.

Hi Tammy; I got my CS last weekend, but I was somewhat disappointed because I want more of the houses and less of the craft show LOL; I shop on the blogs now so I don't need that anymore LOL!!! Just kidding I know somefolks really love it, but I was actually hoping for more decorated homes; that would be so cool! I was so upset that they discontinued Country Marketplace with no notice; I loved the crafting in that magazine! I have to renew my subscription this month; I don't want to miss a thing; and I have actually visited one of the homes in the magazine and own a piece that was featured in the photo shoot. Now that was cool; I have quite a few things the owner of that home sells in her shop; Saltbox Farms. :) Love that mason/ball jar
