Anyone Remember These?

As I was cleaning out kitchen cabinets this past weekend, I came across a little something from my childhood that brought back many good memories.

How many of you were lucky enough to have a mom that pulled out a "homemade" popsicle on a hot summer day after you had a hard day outside playing (with all your might) in the hot sunshine? My mom would call us to the door and hand out those popsicles to my brother and me and to all our neighborhood friends that were hanging out in the yard as well! Oh, how refreshing they were! I thought they were the best thing!

So I really was excited to come across these little treasures. I showed them to Joy (I had used them when Colt was younger before she came along or could remember it). Joy was just as excited. Of course, she wouldn't let me waste ANY tme mixing her favorite flavor, lemonade, to fill those popsicle holders.

I think she must has asked me every ten minutes, "Do you think they're ready yet?" Unfortunately they weren't ready before we had to leave for dance, so she had to wait it out. But believe me, she wasted NO time once we got home (after getting out of dance clothes) to treat herself to one of those treats that I used to enjoy just as much....a good ole homemade popsicle.

I have to admit though...I've let her eat way too many in the past two days. But what can I say, I'm a softie and I remember what it's like to be a kid. Besides it put a smile on her face..........and mine.

Oh, yes! I loved those things. They are so much better than store bought because they have more flavor and can be just what you want!

We had a set of those that I bought at Dollar General a few years ago. They kept falling all through the cupboard and I think I tossed them. I might have to buy more next year. Although, Jer's boss gave us their old Sno-Cone maker last summer and we use that A LOT!

Have a great day!

I remember these!...used to make them for my kids as well in the 70's. When I was young, mom made something similar using koolaide and jello miuxed and would put them in ice cube trays...no sticks though, but sure did taste good!

Yes...I sure do remember having these in our home when our kids were young. They also loved them!! They had so much fun deciding on what flavor they wanted to have me put in them for the next time they had them! It always made for the perfect treat for them!!

Have a great day Tammy!

Absolutely! I still have the ones I used for the kids!
For those who can't find them, use a dixie cup and a plastic spoon.
Also fill ice cube trays with your/their favorite drink and double the flavor in a drink. Or make wild mixes! Kids love to experiment!
Joy looks to be having a great treat. She is so darned cute!

Yep, I had those to. They were pretty good. I think I have some of those around here somewhere. I am just too lazy to fix them. Looks like Joy is really enjoying it.
BTW, no jingle in Bobbi's pocket. We don't do the Tooth Fairy.

I love the popsicle makes; I am thinking about looking for some small ones to make bully-sicles! Thanks for visiting me; I hope that you went over to Jane's and entered the drawing; and Joy can see all the pics of Sophie and her big sister Millie! They are just so cute! Glad your countertop and sink are in!!! See you soon! Merrie

Remember them? I own a set that has seen a lot of use this summer! So simple and yet so wonderful. The kids LOVE them as much as Joy does. Ahh... to be a kid again.

Have a great week, my friend...

Yes I remember them but, we always used foam cups, or dixie cups and we called the results B-bops. As a child there was always a lady in the neighborhood that sold them, in all flavors and she was called the B-bop lady. There also was a B-bop lady when my kids were coming up. Deb

That brought back memories...
The homemade one's were always the best!

You mean to tell me you couldn't freeze them in like a second...LOL. When the kids want something, they want it now and it is so hard for them to understand that sometimes it takes time. Poor things ;) But she sure does look like she was enjoying it!

Hi Tammy...yup, I do remember those and I still have my set. Too bad my kids are too old to make them. I just might have to dig to the back of the cabinet and make them myself!!!

My 9 year old was looking over my shoulder as I read your post and she said, "Mom, did you give her our popsicle holders?" We have some just like that, and I had to promise her I would make some popsicles tonight so she can have one when she gets home from school tomorrow. My Mom always made them for us--we even used ice cube trays with toothpicks. (we learned that trick from the children's public televsion show "Zoom". ) Thanks for a trip down memory lane.

I have to admit, I dont like those things because they always get lost in the bowl cupboard and then they dont ever use them! But, of course, I get suckered into buying them again !!

Hope your kitchen is coming along , ours is getting close!!

Oh gosh, I remember having those a kid..I love making Dr. Pepper ones..lol! My kids love them as well! It is the simple things in life that can bring so much joy! I was laughing at your previous post, because oftentimes, a 'date' with the hubby is usually dinner and a trip to Walmart or Target..lol.
