"Bless Our Nest" Americana Outdoor Decor

A few weeks back, I showed you all the little red wagon and Americana step ladder that I picked up at an Antique Gallery. I asked where you thought I should use the ladder...inside or out. Well I decided to use it outside (as several of you suggested) during the warmer months. Then I'll probably move it in during cooler weather.

Well, this is the little landscaped area that we walk by on our way to or from the carport to come into the house through the sunporch. I can also see this area sitting at the kitchen table. I'm so glad to have a cheery area to enjoy. I thought I'd share it with you today.

I guess you could say this turned out to be a sort of Americana area. One thing led to another and before I knew it, that's what I had! I guess what you love always ends up shining through, doesn't it?

The tree bark birdhouse planter was a Mother's Day gift to me last year. It has aztec roses planted in it with a little flag tucked in.

The bench began it's life as a black wrought iron one (purchased from a Dollar store). To make it look "rusty & old", I sprayed it with Rustoleum multicolored texture paint (I'm loving this stuff!). I shopped my house looking for something to add to the bench. I borrowed the Americana birdhouse on the bench from my dining room and the wreath was part of a snowman I had on my fence at Christmas.

I did purchase the Americana star this year that's resting on top of the ladder. The geranium at the bottom of the ladder is in a coffee can (also sprayed with my trusty ole Rustoleum). I added a homespun bow. Actually, it's the homespun that Kindra had wrapped around my blocks so pretty (that I purchased from her)....repurposed. On the next ladder rung up, I added a clay pot found in my shed..just turned it upside down. The Bless our Nest sign was a piece of drift wood my daddy brought home. I painted it one afternoon and added it to the tree.

In the wagon, I just added a couple of clay pots of rose moss. The watering can is the white one from my yard sales last Saturday (again, painted with Rustoleum). I told you I loved that stuff! I added the flag and garden tools that I had around here. The hanging planter on the tree behind the wagon is something I've had tucked away and found the other day. I planted trailing lantana in it.

In this picture, you can see the knockout rose bushes. So far...so good...haven't killed them yet! (Sorry for all the wood pieces you see behind. That's from the fence building).

And that's my new favorite outdoor decor spot. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do everytime I pass by!

Looks great Tammy? Is the paint called multi-color paint?--I LOVE it and have a few things I would like to use it on. I really like Americana stuff, too. Your yard looks so patriotic. Have a great weekend. Julie
