Americana & a Little Crafting Too

Okay, I know it's ALWAYS decorated prim Americana, but I really never tire of it! It's my fireplace and entire living room. I do want to make some changes in here, however. I'd like to add a picture of George and Abe near my Declaration of Independence that I hung. (Sorry no pictures of that until I actually get George and Abe there). So although I'll be tweaking with things on the mantel and entire living room from time to time, I have no plans of changing it from prim Americana. I love my Americana! I just loved the house featured in the last Country Sampler issue (Cheryl's home, I believe). Loved it!

I did stick this little quilted flag (another GW find that I had tucked away) in the crock on my crates beside the fireplace too. Again, I haven't tea dyed the flag. I still don't know how I feel about it...it's really hard to resist though! :)

I would love to add some Americana type gameboards somewhere either in my living room or on the staircase wall in the foyer.

Speaking of the foyer, this is the decor on the staircase landing. You've seen it before, and the only thing that's probably changed is what's on the floor. I'm forever moving things there around!

My kitchen table has been covered for the last two days with crafting stuff! It kind of makes it hard to eat. We have to push things around, or eat in the dining room. It would be nice to have a crafting room downstairs. I find that I just won't haul everything upstairs to work on it (where I have a table), so it ends up here at my kitchen table, where I can be near everyone else!

I spray painted this candle holder black. I forget what type of candle holder it's called. Someone help me out here! It used to be brass. I have plans for some rose hips to go in the little tray part and a grubby candle. It will probably go in my bathroom (on my new prim cabinet that Jason built me)...Yay! :)

It seems like I'm always painting frames that I find at GW. My kids' friends are used to seeing frames being painted on my kitchen table! Joy's friend, Molly Grace, asked her why her mom was always painting frames! Now, she always comments on them! :)

I have several wooden spoons from GW also, so I was playing around here. One of them I stained and the other has a mixture of black paint and stain.

Does anyone else actually use their kitchen table or do you all have nice little craft rooms where you work? One of these days, I might, but for now, this will have to do!

I love this pantry sign that Becca made me awhile back! I kept passing by and thinking I might add a little stain to it to tone down the off white a little. I did and I love the look even more, especially against the red door. I don't even think Jason has noticed it yet! :)

Oh, and yesterday I picked up this at Gordman's on their clearance rack. I don't know yet where it will go, but for $3, I couldn't pass it up!

I love to pop in there and browse their clearance section. It looks like they're fading out alot of their primitive decor! Sigh! I love buying handmades for the most part, but I can't always afford to buy that way, and so shopping Gordman's clearance section has helped me add to my prim decor!

Some blogging friends have asked about my bathroom. It's coming along! Kindra is making me a couple of goodies for it and I'm adding some finds and makeovers. Jason added a toilet paper holder to the side of the vanity cabinet. I really promise to show it to you soon! Be patient with me as I put all the finishing touches on!

Okay...here's one more little sneak peek. It's the shower curtain. I really really love the pattern of my kitchen curtains, so this was the winner for my bathroom...it's Park Design's Cinnamon.

Well that's about it around here for today! I hope you all stay cool, and have a great Wednesday! :) I'm stopping by GW today so wish me luck!

Kitchen tables are meant for crafting, aren't they? I have some crafting space in the basement, but more often than not, I end up in the kitchen.

I like what you've been up to, Tammy and I'm really looking forward to those bathroom pics.

Have a great day, my friend!

and i never thought to spray brass but i will now! I have a small folding table-like an end table- i put right in front of my chair in the family room. for painting, i do that out on the patio on cardboard.
i love americana as well and am always on the lookout for more. and i have all my supplies for making grubby candles but have not yet done it. how do you do it? what is your recipe?

Hi Tammy,
My craft area is the bar in the kitchen and the diningroom table which is always a mess with my stuff:) I don't think I'd like being down in the basement:)

Love your shower curtain and can't wait also to see the finished bathroom.
Have a great evening,
Rondell

You have been busy!! I love your Americana!! And George and Abe will fit right in.

I think that is a chamberstick. Great idea to spray the brass black!!

Love the shower curtain - can't wait for the finished room!

Oh yes, the dining room table is my craft area. You should see my table when I'm filling orders! I'm sort of obsessive about clearing the table off before bed though, so it's very inconvenient!

I love your new shower curtain and I can't wait to see your bathroom!

Hi Tammy,
I love patriotic decor too! I keep quite a few of my flags out all year round. I like the sampler you got at Gordmons. I haven't looked in there for awhile. They always seemed to have a few good prims when I did go there. That shower curtain is so pretty. I can't wait to see your bathroom when it's all done!Have a great night!

I love how you decorate. My sister loves Country Sampler too and her home looks like it could come out of the magazine.

I do love country but tend to actually be more of a cottage style, I guess.

I love your blog and just had to follow you. Can't wait to see more pictures and stuff!

I found a brass candlestick just like yours at the TS and spray painted it black also. I just assumed they were called 'chamber' something. Beautiful makeovers and bargains!!!!

I love all your stuff! I know your home looks so inviting! We have a table for crafts, but it's not as sturdy as our kitchen table. So, we usually end up in the kitchen.

Great pieces and decorating. I never thought to spray paint a brass one. So hard to find chamber sticks in prim finishes.

I always enjoy that fireplace of yours! I love all your americana touches througout the house.

I haven't been to Gordmans in a few years...literally. I hear there are prims there, I should take a trip there sometime before they take them all away. Have a great weekend!
