A Little Addition to My Pantry

A week ago, Jason and I were putting up groceries after shopping (something I'm so glad when we do it together) when Jason remarked about how many spices we had in the pantry and how much space they used in the pantry. We didn't have room to put all the groceries (not that we had alot of groceries...we just didn't have alot of room). I also use that pantry (the bottom shelf) for our most-used homeschooling books....things we pull out everyday. Anyway, he said, "We could hang a spice rack on the inside of this door, and it would make alot more room". And of course, he said he could make it! And of course, I thought that was an excellent idea! I ALWAYS think it's an excellent idea when I hear, "I could make......." :)

Well I actually forgot about it this week because I didn't write it down on my "wish list". But this Saturday, Jason was out in the yard working and I "missed" him for awhile and wondered where he was....well he was out in the shop and whipped me up a spice rack! But it's not just any old spice rack, he added a place at the top for my bread too!

Isn't it great? He hung it for me this evening and I feel so pampered. It looks like I'm quite the chef! lol!

It really created more room in the pantry. Now I just need to get in there and weed out and clean up and organize! So what do you think of my spick rack? :)

And just in case you haven't seen it, Beth is having a great spring giveaway over on her blog, Raggedy Angel. Be sure and click over and check it out! (I already have plans for it in my house though)!

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by! :)

My favorite is the place where you put the bread. Mine is always just sitting on the counter, or on top of the toaster or refrigerator.....that looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing a great idea!

Tammy, I totally love it. Wish I had room for one. I don't have a pantry closet. I sure do miss having one. My spices are on lazy susan turn-table in the cabinet.

Love, Love, Love it! Is there anything this man can't make. It's perfect and he made a place for the bread. I hate when the bread gets smashed. What a wonderful husband you have there Ms. Tammy!

The kitchen looks great by the way.:)

That is wonderful! We have a spice cabinet, but I would live to have a shelf inside my pantry door to hold some other little odds and ends.

It's so fun to have a talented hubby. I love it when Darrell makes something for me that I've asked for.

Love your spice rack, Tammy.. That is so neat, so creative and easy to get to... I have all of my spices in a drawer --and a rack like yours would be SO much better. Congrats!!!

Have a great day/week.

Let's hope for no damage here the next couple of days due to the upcoming freeze.

You are very blessed. Jason is so creative. That is a really neat idea with the bread holder above the spices. You are blessed to have a big pantry anyway, I wish I had one that big.

OK I am so jealous!!

anyway, now that you have a place for your spices, did you check the expiration dates? I think McCormick has a thing on their website that you can check to see when your spice was made. I actually had some from the early 90's!! yikes...needless to say, I have alot less spices in my cabinet and it looks great. So little by little, I will replace them. Some I rarely used anyway.

you are truly one lucky lady!!

I forgot to add something when checking the spices....on the website, it will either ask for the code from the bottom of the bottle or the city where it was made. On the spice bottle it will give the address of where the spice was made. There are only two cities to choose from. Then it will tell you the year the spice was made.

That is absolutely awesome! Your hubby makes you some of the best gifts ever. I know that it's something simple like a spice rack to some but it's something that will make you smile every time you use it :)

LOVE IT. My hubby may have to copy Jason..lol. I complain every time I get a spice out of the cabinet. Acutally that just happened less than 30 minutes ago. Just this weekend I looked for a basket to house my spices so I could put it in the pantry. Think I like this idea better. Absolutely fabulous!

Blessings,

Gigi

I love your spice rack! What a great idea. Now if I only had a pantry door to do the same...LOL. Instead hubby takes up over half of the cupboard with all his spices. He's the cook, not me...LOL.
I had to laugh when you said the top shelf was for your bread...I would never reach it...LOL

Can't wait to see what hubby will make you next...

What a sweet guy - that rack looks great! My father invented a spice rack when my mom was having the same spice problems in her pantry... it's called the SpiceStack! You can store 18+ spice bottles from the grocery store efficiently in your kitchen cabinet. The three drawers drop down so its easy to find the spices you need while cooking. Check it out at SpiceStack.com.

Happy Organizing! Lauren Greenwood, SpiceStack Inc.

Love your spice rack Tammy!! Your hubby does such a fantastic job on whatever it is that he builds!! I've loved it all!! Love the idea of having the bread placed on the top of your spice rack too! My two loaves of bread have their spot ontop of our 4 slice toaster, that sits on the kitchen counter. Love your bowl rack too!! :)

Have a great day Tammy!!
