Small, Black, and Cozy

What a perfect ending I had to this past week of dragging out Christmas decorations!

Jason was off this past week and the time just flew by! We started off the week with steam cleaning our carpets. I got the easy part....bless his heart....Jason got the hard part....he was dripping sweat! He worked so hard. I vacuumed and he followed with the steamer, but wow...it made me feel so much better about putting up the Christmas decor (which is almost done...it takes awhile when life interupts).

Okay, I'm sure you're wondering by now. What's small, black and cozy got to do with this? Well my Aunt Jo called me Friday night. She had just bought herself a new faux fireplace for her living room. Now here's where the small black and cozy comes in. She offered us a great deal on the small black electric stove that she used to have in her living room....that I've always loved...and had on my list of wants. I've wanted one for awhile now for my bedroom. So Jason and I drove over and picked it up Saturday morning.

I love the instant cozy atmosphere it gave to our bedroom. It's just the right size for this corner of the room. My aunt also threw in the popcorn grate too. You would think we got a million bucks as happy as we are with it! We've enjoyed this so much already! Even Joy...loves to sit next to it to warm up and read. And you know it really puts out more heat than you would think...it actually warms our entire room very well.

I already had the black magazine rack that I repurposed to hold wood, so now just to find something to put on the top of the heater. I have an iron tea kettle, but I love it on my old country cookstove in the kitchen too...so I can't give that up in the kitchen....so, I'm looking around the house trying to find just the right thing. Any ideas on the perfect thing to set off the top of my little black stove?

And I'm still working on details in our Christmas decor...so hopefully I can share a room at a time with you later this week. Now it's time to bring out those Christmas movies! This decorating and music has really put me in the Christmas spirit...I just don't want to leave home at night now. I love this getting-dark-at-5:15 because I feel all cozy and snug inside our home in the evenings. Now why don't some of you all share some of that snow with us southerners....that would just be perfect! :)

I really like your new stove and you will really enjoy it. We have a wood burning stove in our family room & I love to sit by it & stitch or read or visit with Simon. It's just so cozy. Can't wait to see your home all decked out for Christmas. We got 9 inches of snow last night & I would love to share with you. It's so beautiful.

Isn't it wonderful when a "wish list" item falls right into place? I'm sure you'll spend many lovely hours sitting happily by your new stove.

And I can't wait to see all of your Christmas decorations!

I'll be sure to send you some genuine Maine snow when we get some. I'm hoping it will be a while yet though. Our winters are LONG here in New England!

That is so cute! Our house didn't have fireplaces so I bought 2 of the faux fireplaces that burn those little cans of fuel. We just love them! They are quite cozy. I'm not ready for snow yet. But yesterday we had some flurries. Have a great day! ~Beth~

I love the look and feel of a real or faux fire.
Does the top get warm when it is on? If so, how about putting a primitive bowl on top with either, a scented wax tart, or some simmering scent.
I want snow too. Didn't get any yet where I live in Ohio. But I heard they did in the snowbelt. Darn!
Have a good night!

I love that Tammy! I can think of all kinds of things to put on top of it, but it depends on how hot the top gets.
I've been thinking about getting Christmas stuff down, but I hurt my back so I have to wait. Darn it! hahaha!
Can't wait to see your decorations.

Your new stove is adorable! We have a black stove insert in our fireplace that blows warm air...so nice! But we haven't used it yet though...probably soon!

You're inspiring me to steam clean our carpets before decorating, too!
But wow...you guys sure are early! :)
We're after Thanksgiving people, but we're probably going to do it that very weekend since Thanksgiving is so late this year.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your Christmas decor! :)

I love your new stove...I think a fireplace in a bedroom is so neat! I'd sure like to see some snow here, too, but it doesn't happen much. Can't wait to see your decorations.

Its just perfect, Tammy. Its so nice when wishes come true!

I have been sick with some nasty little bug so I've been on the couch and watching Christmas movies. I just finished "White Christmas" and I am really going to be in Christmas mode when I'm up and moving!

Can't wait to see your Christmas decorations!

What a nice little stove!! How about a crock or a piece of pottery on teh top. You can add water and it will humidify the dry air when the stove is on.

Can't wait to see your Christmas decor!

Love your stove...I always wanted one myself. I do have one of those fake fireplaces and it heats our living room. I don't turn on any other heating then that. And you know, it does not affect the hydro bill at all.

Christmas is fast approaching...unreal that we are only 40+ days to go. Looking forward to decorating...

Feel free to come and take some of the colder weather anytime, Tammy. I love fall but am not that fond of cold weather and snow.

Thanks for tagging me. I've got my responses up, finally. :)
Hugs to you~ Birgit

Tammy,
I think your fireplace is so lovely! It is funny I have been thinking about getting one for our great room and our master bedroom. Now this makes me want one even more.
I think a lovely little tea kettle smaller than the one in your kitchen to put on top would be the thing. Enjoy for all of us.
Hugs, Bobbi Jo

We have a gas one in our family room. It does make things cozy. The one problem is that lp gas hasn't gone down like the gas for cars. It goes up and up and never down. We enjoy the heck out of it. Ours has a stovepipe vent, of course, so there is noworry about what goes on top cuz nothing does. Oh, I have put a tea kettle on it to add moisture to the room. The heat can be dry. And we have mitten warmers on both sides. Why not a ceramic tea kettle and a couple cups or mugs?
