Thank you so much to all who entered my blogging anniversary giveaway and most of all for the sweet comments!

I made sure everyone was given credit for the correct number of entries and.put them in a big Americana basket.

Luke's job was to mix them up really well.  He loved that job.  :)

My heart just breaks and goes out to all the families of Moore, Oklahoma that lost family members in the tornado and even those that endured the tornado devasation.  I know we can count on each other to pray for these families!

♥ A Cozy Autumn Day ♥

What a cozy fall autumn morning it was yesterday and on the first day of October too!

I love Luke's reflection in the window.  He's eating his muffin for breakfast.  :)

I love having lamplight in the mornings, especially on days like this. It’s one of the first things I do in the morning….go around turning on the lamps.

We enjoyed left-over pumpkin muffins for breakfast too. Another wonderful thing for a cozy fall morning!

And to top it off, I had these wonderful fall goodies from Holly (of Holly's Hobbies and Darbee's Days) to decorate with. I was the lucky winner of her fall giveaway and these goodies arrived the end of last week. Aren’t they great?  I just love everything, especially those pumpkins!!  Thank you so much, Holly!  :)

My mama kept admiring the angel and she collects them, so I ended up giving it to her!

Yesterday was just the perfect day to do a little more fall decorating with these wonderful goodies! They added more touches of fall throughout my home……

The wax tarts were added here. 

I love those pumpkins here.

I added the wax bowl fillers from Carol in the little bowl with some of the primitive hay from Holly.

I added some of the hay from Holly in this bowl that is usually the centerpiece on the dining room table.  At this particular time the dining room table has computer equipment on it.  :)

Can you see the rusty star garland?  I added it to the leaf garland on the mantle.

I even used the grassy stuff included with the wax tarts under the pumpkin on the scales. 

In addition to that, I won yet another giveaway....Carol (of Firecracker Kid).  I entered it with the intention of passing along those candle sconces to my mom if I won because I knew she would love them. And I won! So as soon as I took this picture, I took them over to mama. :)  Thank you, Carol!  Since she added a couple extra things, I added those to my fall decor!

The little mouse from Carol landed here. And the fall bowl fillers were added to the little bowl (in one of the pictures above) along with some of the “primitive hay” from Holly.

If it keeps up like this, it will soon be sweater and boot weather!

 Oh, and I forgot…..not sure if I’ll keep up with it every day, but Sandra is doing a 31 days of fall challenge. It’s all about posting a picture that says “fall” every day. Actually everything on my post today says fall, but I’m leaving you with one that Joy actually took yesterday. I loved it and asked her if I could share and she graciously agreed. She is really into photography.

♥ Simply Amish ♥

I was the lucky (or I prefer to say blessed) winner of Michelle’s giveaway (of Simple Pleasures)…….genuine Amish children’s clothing purchased from an Indiana Amish community. (Thank you Michelle!). I just love them!

I love and admire the Amish’s simple lifestyle and also recently read A Day in the Life of the Amish, so I was especially excited to be the winner of her wonderful giveaway.   It meant all the more! 

The dress and overalls came in the mail Friday. They are simple, but I think they're beautiful!

I just may be trying these on my 2 year old niece when we go to Alabama in a few weeks!  :)

♥ A Winner and a Birthday ♥

Well today, there’s two reasons to celebrate……I have a winner for my fall giveaway AND it’s my birthday.

But since I’m sure you want to find out who won this, I won’t make you wait through a bunch of pictures to find out!

I decided that we’d do this the old-fashioned way, by giving each person that entered the correct amount of entries and mixing them all up in a bowl.   There were nearly 150 entries when they were all tabulated and everyone given the correct amount of entries! 

It’s more fun for my kids this way too because they get to draw out the winner!

A Package for Luke

Oh what an exciting day it was for Luke when our mail lady left a package at the front door for him! He knew that a package was on its way, so he was waiting.

Recently, we entered Joy G.'s (Miracles, Markers, and Me) contest for adoptive parents. We joined her for “Thursday Tea”. The contest question for her giveaway was to tell your child’s favorite book(s) after bringing him/her home. Her two sweet daughters and the third grade class would be choosing winners based on the answers. Well, imagine our surprise when Joy G. left me a comment letting me know that Luke was one of the winners! The winners were to receive a pair of pajamas and a book.

Luke’s favorite book when he came home (and one which he still loves) was (and is) Caps for Sale. He loves the silliness of it, and of course we have to put a lot of drama into it as we read it, which has always made him cackle. And it has a lot of repetitiveness to it, which I think helped him learn his English as well.

Another favorite was (and is) The Little Fur Family. All of my children have loved that book. It tells the sweet story of the love of a family portrayed through little “fur people”. This story just has an air of coziness, sweetness, love, and the security of a family and home. Plus it has a song at the end in which I made up a tune when Colt was little. I have continued to sing it to each of my children.

And as of lately, a favorite book of his has been Green Eggs and Ham. He loves quoting that book. And of course, it helped when we made him his green eggs and ham which I posted about here.

So fast forward………the third grade class made Luke one of the winners……….and his package arrived Saturday! Luke was SO excited!

And wow! How generous they were! Joy G. knew Luke loved cars (and any type of vehicle), so it also included a Cars book and stamp set.

And going with the theme of Caps for Sale with the monkeys and all…………an album of Curious George stories! Luke loves these! 

They included a special (very sweet) inscription inside:

Aren’t these pajamas (which can also double as a costume) the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen? Oh my goodness!

And since he plans on wearing it to our Harvest party the first week of November, I’ll save a photo of him as a little sock monkey to share for then!

Thank you so much Ms. Joy G, Olivia, Lian, and the third grade class for picking us! Luke thanks you and he thinks you girls rock too!
