Around the House

Quite a few hours have been spent outdoors lately. And as usual, a good bit of it was working. But that goes with the territory of keeping a home, doesn’t it? So come along, and I’ll share a little bit of what we’ve been up to.

First of all, we planted a (late) garden between our house and my mama and daddy’s. Let’s see in due time we hope to have squash, okra, watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, bell peppers, hot peppers, and tomatoes.

Remember my red table upstairs in The Cedar Loft?

Jason never was that crazy about it so when the opportunity arose to replace it, he made a proposal.....To replace it with the (sturdier) table that was in his daddy’s house. Problem was that it was stained wood. His proposal was to get that table and he would paint it the red like the cabinets in the loft.  I agreed to that. :)  It’s all about compromise, isn’t it? After all, it’s his house (or loft) too. This table has a leaf to it that allows more seating and the chairs are much sturdier, so that will be nice. And I still get my red (with antiquing glaze of course).  :)

Luke was right there beside us very interested in the process.  He loves to help!

Luke and his wild sweaty hair.....

And of course, Luke has spent lots of time in his sand box. He can entertainment himself for a long time there! Of course, the bathtub is ready and waiting when he’s done, but a dirty boy = fun.

We worked Saturday and Sunday evening on the landscaping, trimming bushes, and cleaning up. Jason just got home with a big load of red mulch, so after supper, we all worked on spreading that out back. It should make a big difference. I’ll have to share the “after” picture with you when it’s all done.

Oh I almost forgot......... I got a phone call this morning saying that my new furniture will be delivered Wednesday morning! That made my day……..especially so since I sold our furniture Saturday.  Yes, I sold our worn out furniture to a man with five children who said it would get much more wear.  :)   You probably don’t realize how many times you want to plop down or lie back and relax on your sofa until it’s gone! I can hardly wait to see that Johnston Benchworks furniture in my living room. Can't you just see it imagine it here?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Maybe next time you stop by, I'll have the new furniture to share!  :)
