A Good Evening at Goodwill

While visiting many of your blogs, I've seen all the wonderful thrift store finds that you've come home with and I have to admit that you really got me in the mood to see what I could find. I must have been having TS withdrawals as I hadn't been in one since right after Christmas. So...Tuesday night while Joy was in dance, my friend, Tonya, and I stopped in Goodwill. While Tonya did really well on finding her daughter several dresses for church, I didn't find anything except a couple of books for Joy.

I did pass by a shelf that had a couple of the brown cheese crocks. On the other side of the store, I happened upon a third one. With the three put together, they were graduating sizes. I couldn't make up my mind. They had $2.99 on the big one, and $1.99 on each of the smaller ones. I just didn't know if I really wanted them for that and couldn't process in my mind what I would do with them, at the moment. Then lo and behold, I click over to Tammy's blog, The Olde Hollow Crow, and she had three of the very same cheese crocks in graduating sizes that she had redone by adding some of the old farmhouse crock and jar labels that alot of you have used (and I have loved). So then, of course, all I could do was think about the crocks I passed up. It really bugged me! So last night, I asked Tonya if we could stop by again while the girls were in dance (again) for just a minute because if by chance those crocks were there, I wanted them! Not only were they there, but I got all three for $2.99 (instead of the $6.97 they were on Tuesday).
I also picked up the frame with a golfing picture (which will be removed of course) for .99. It will be used for a stitchery and primmed up.

And then I thought while I was there, I would at least stop by the furniture section and see if there might be a chair for Joy's desk. There wasn't one on Tuesday. As I got closer, I could see IT......I wanted to run to beat anyone else to IT.... THE chair!

Not only was it nice and sturdy (and I loved the shape), but it was $9.99! I must have been grinning from ear to ear and I'm sure Tonya was a little surprised when I came out of the store hauling a chair over my shoulder! I'm glad we were in her Suburban! Boy, was I happy we stopped by last night and Joy is SO excited. Of course, it will get a coat of the buttermilk paint and I'm not sure if I'll do any stenciling on the back of it....we'll see. It's a simple thing, I know, but this good evening at Goodwill just made my whole day! It felt like it was "just meant to be". :)

On another note, I have to say thank you to all of you that commented on Colt's bedroom, but I have to tell you that it's not ALWAYS like that. I took that picture on a clean day. Of course, he has days where he left his quilt out on his futon, has drinks sitting in there and clothes lying over his guitar stand. And like I said, he might have a pile of clothes in there waiting to be folded on any given day, but for the most part, I really can't complain about him, because for a guy, he is fairly neat. But in all fairness, you had to know that I took the picture on his best day! On those "other type of days", I just close the door! :)

**********************************************************************************

And I want to thank Amber and Joy for giving me this award. That was sweet of both of them. Thank you girls!

**********************************************************************************

I would also like to introduce you all to a new blog. A new friend, Gigi, that I met through an email has just started her own blog, Happily Ever After, and made her first post. I bet she would love it if you would stop by and say hi!

Have a great weekend, everybody! :)

You are not being silly at all! It's the thrill of the hunt, girl! There is just something so gratifying about digging around in the TS and finding the perfect treasure for a wonderful price!

Do you remember the other week when I wanted the rocking chair at the TS but passed it up only to find it sold when I went back? Some thought I was crazy for leaving it but I totally believe that if I'm not sure on a price of an item then I won't buy it. If I meant to have it, it will be there when I get back and if not, something better will come along that I'm willing to pay for! You couldn't find a chair the other day because it wasn't the right time yet :D

I love finding Prims in there that I have seen at the antique stores for sometimes ten times more! It makes me feel SOOO good and I don't have to feel guilty because I never spend more than $10! :D

Have a wonderful day:)

Love your chair! I found two ladder back chairs at GW last week that I loved but for some reason I always hesitate to lug furniture around unless Darrell is with me - which of course he wasn't that day!

I never pass up a crock at the right price either!

Glad you did well at Goodwill, Tammy... We don't have a Goodwill here but there is one in Hendersonville (where George's parents live). I've always heard that you have to go back at all different times---to keep finding the specials you are looking for!!!! Good Luck!!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Tammy, what awesome finds! I LOVE that chair! And what a neat idea to add the labels to the crocks! I passed up some today! But there were only two and not exactly alike. I am going to get some labels and save them for when I find something perfect for them.
I can't wait to see how your's turn out!

Hey Tammy,
Yay!! You got the crocks. It was meant to be. Cant wait to see what you do with them.

Love the chair. I know how you feel about running for something. It's hard to hold yourself back sometimes, but hey as long as "you" get it first. LOL

Have a great weekend.

I simply put--LOVE Goodwill. When we make a trip tp Iowa City, we go through Washington to the Goodwill; then Coralville to the Goodwill and finally to Iowa City to the Goodwill. There are dozens of thrifts, consignments, outlets and Salvation Army but we don't go to them very often. Goodwill really is the best.
I know Joy will love that chair. It looks like a sturdy, solid wood chair. Great find.
Does your Goodwill have 'BID' items? All the ones we go to put some really collectible or nice antiques up for bid. They have a ledger that you enter your bid in and they end every 7 days, usually Wednesdays. I have won a bid a couple times. That is cool, too.
Please post when you put the finish on the cheese crocks.....

Our GW is on the way to the market so I stop in once a week on my way for groceries.
I can't wait to see what you do with your crocks!

Wow, those finds are the coolest! One time my hubby and I stumbled in a TS and I found the neatest sewing machine in a cabinet. It was one of the first electric ones that was made. Not as good as a foot pedal one, but I got it cheap. After seeing what you bought makes me want to go on a treasure hunt. Great find. Thank you so much for introducing everyone to my blog. I had some comments left today. This is going to be my stess reliever for sure. Thank you so much for your help. Many blessings to ya.

I used to have some of those jars. I may still do... I have some things packed away. Our house is small and no room for all the things I've collected over the years. You really got a bargain on the jars.

The chair looks great and I can't wait to see it all painted and ready for Joy's room.

Hi Tammy! I thought I had replied to this post before but I don't see my name...so maybe I only "meant" to! ;)

Anyway, love all of your finds!

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's weekend!
Also, I wanted to remind you that if you get a chance, tomorrow is the Home School Open House! Hope to see you...I always enjoy seeing what you and Joy are up to!

(Also, tell Joy a letter is coming soon, but my daughter just forgot to mail it...it's going in tomorrow's mail for sure!)

Blessings,
Yet Another Tammy :)
