Pampered Princesses

What teenage girl doesn’t love going to the salon, having her hair styled and a manicure too?  (I'm still not sure I like using that word, teenager, in the same sentence when I'm speaking of my daughter).  :)

To celebrate her 13th birthday party, Joy opted to pamper herself and her best friend, Christina, followed by an evening out to eat and a movie, ending with a sleep over and Christina going to church with us on Sunday morning.  Those two get along beautifully and had a wonderful time.

So, we began on Saturday morning with just us girls grabbing a bite to eat and heading to the salon. We didn’t go to just any salon….. but of course the one where Amber works! Joy and Christina had already picked out the hairstyle they wanted (from where else but Pinterest). Joy chose the waterfall braid and I can’t remember what Christina’s was called or if it even had a name. But both styles were so pretty!  It was amazing how each of their styles really fit their personality!

Amber did a wonderful job and did it was such ease! She is a wonderful hair stylist. She certainly found her calling! Thank you, Amber!

I realized I left my camera at home, so my cell phone served as my camera while we were at the salon. So these first few pics aren’t the best quality, but at least it captured the moment.

I couldn't help but remember the princess party Joy had when she turned four. My how the time flies. But still my beautiful princess......

I’m going to share a little of the celebration and fun through photos:  (Remember some of these are a little blurry because they were taken from my cell phone and I am notorious for moving my phone too quickly).

After coming home from the salon, we played around with a little photo shoot....

Joy had been asking for a sewing machine for her birthday, which she picked out the weekend of her birthday as well! A friend of mine is going to do her the honors and teach her to sew (and I’m going to learn too because I never really did).

And although not on her birthday, we are planning a very special celebration in honor of Joy’s 13th birthday. She will be getting a purity ring that she wants to wear, to serve as a reminder to herself and a symbol to others that she will keep herself pure for the one young man that God will send her way who will treat her like the princess she is and whom she will marry. This ring will be put on her finger by her daddy and removed by the young man she will marry one day. We will have a very special evening to commemorate this moment.

Joy, you are a joy to us. Continue to let your light shine! We’re blessed to be your parents! We love you!

All three of our kids’ birthdays are squeezed within a month of each other beginning with Joy’s on February 2nd and stretching to Colt’s on March 4th. Luke’s is sandwiched between on February 25th. And my daddy’s is in between there to boot…..February 15th. So as you can see we have a marathon month of birthdays. And believe me, my kids know how to make a birthday celebration last for 2-3 days!  That's a skill I need to learn!  :)   So next is Mr. Luke’s birthday, who will be 4 years old.   How can that be?  He’s telling me that he wants an 18-wheeler birthday cake. From princesss hairstyles and pampering to 18- wheelers!  But that sounds like fun too!  :)

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week!

Oh Tammy,
That just warmed my heart to see pure innocence and wholesome fun. We see so much of young girls inappropriate behaviors and actions and this was so refreshing. Those 2 girls are just adorable and looked so precious. What a wonderful fun birthday celebration. You are a special momma Tammy and you and Jason need to be commended for raising such a special young lady.
Thanks for sharing such a uplifting time!
Hugs,
Tanya
