♥ Lovely Porches ♥

I love porches.  To me, porches give a home an instant cozy and welcoming element.

There are memories made on porches.......in days gone by especially.  In those days when times were simpler and folks weren't on the go constantly running their children to extracurricular activities, they would gravitate to the porch in their rockers, swings, or benches, and watch the kids play in the yard during the day or catch fireflies after dark, while they enjoyed simple conversations ,sipping their lemonade or coffee.  Porches were actually just an extension of their living space.  Families LIVED a great deal of their lives on porches.

I love the appeal of porches.  Every house I could or have ever dreamed of living in or imagined in my life has ALWAYS had a porch.  And I admit that I will slow down and take a closer look at porches when I drive by them.....whether they be large meandering wrap-arounds or cozy small ones......they all draw me in!

Wanna take a stroll with me today as I stop by and visit some pretty and inviting porches?  We can imagine who lives there and what it would be like to visit for awhile on these cozy welcoming porches!

Okay, let's go......

I just love that last one!  Whoever lives there would have a hard time getting me to leave!

And mine seems so simple compared to some of these, but I worked with what I have.  :)  Here's our front porch this summer.....

Thanks for taking a stroll with me today.  I hope you enjoyed the porch tour! I bet you had a favorite that you could imagine yourself on right about now!  :)

Take time to grab you a cool glass of lemonade or a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy YOUR porch.  Enjoy the simple moments!

♥ Kildeer Babies ♥

Remember our mama kildeer sitting on her eggs in our driveway?   Bless her heart, she stuck with it through a BUNCH of rainy cold days.

Well, we managed to protect them from folks pulling in and out of our driveway, and we were watching them closely counting down the incubation days, so we wouldn't miss them.  I knew they wouldn't stay around long.  On exactly day 28, two babies made their debut into this world.  They chose the perfect day......a Wednesday..... because all my piano students were able to enjoy this lesson in nature with us!

Here they are not long after they were born.....being so still while being photographed by this intrusive human.

And within just hours later, they were strutting around the yard.

With their cute little legs carrying them as fast as they go, squawking the entire time and with enough instinct to get away from that lady with the camera, they hurried away in the opposite direction of me.  And then mama squawked a series of squawks to guide them back to her.

One was a little shy......choosing to try to hide from me.....

And the other one chose to high step it away from me....as quick as those little legs would go.  :)

They only stayed over night, and then they were off on their own new adventures.  :)

What a nature lesson God provided for us!

His Wait is Over....... :)

It may not be fall, but it sure felt like it here today with temperatures in the 60’s. It was wonderful! So when we made the comment that it sure felt like fall, guess who was all over that?

Hearing the word "fall", Mr. Luke didn’t miss a beat in telling us that "today he could wear his dinosaur shirt".

And so he did. :)

(If you missed the previous post about fall and his dinosaur shirt, you can read about it here.)

Waiting For Fall

I just had to share this today since it put a smile on my face.

I picked up this shirt for Luke in Alabama from a consignment sale. He loved it from the minute I bought it because it has a dinosaur on it. Every.single.day since we brought it home, he’s asked to wear it.

Well, I kept putting him off telling him it was long sleeves. You have to wait until it gets colder. It’s too hot outside for that shirt.

You have to wait for fall, Luke.

So you know what he did? He proceeded to sit his little self down on the loveseat in my room and said, “Okay, mom (all grown up like), I’m gonna wait for fall”. And there he sat, patiently waiting for fall.

A little blurry because he was doing the "I'm a 3 year old little boy" wiggle.

Still waiting....

I think he might win on this one and we’ll be rolling up the sleeves. :)
