Don't Laugh....

....especially those of you that are used to feet of snow!

We really hoped for snow when we had the chance on Thursday! If we ever get snow, it is January or February, and the occasional early March snow. Of course, all the kids around here were hoping. And yes, schools were closed. (Remember I said don't laugh). Although poor Joy, one of the disadvantages of homeschooling is that your mean old homeschooling teacher doesn't let you off completely! :)

Okay, are you ready for it?

We got a good dusting....maybe 1/2 an inch! You have to get a little creative but you CAN play in 1/2 an inch! And so we did.

We had to scrape snow off the tops of fences, cars, sidewalks, boats and bird feeders just to get enough to make a snowball, but we did!

So, you folks with feet of snow and that are tired of it (especially shoveling it), I wish we could take some of it off your hands. Just some of it.

We had a lot of snow for a white Christmas but that rarely happens. Enjoy the 'dusting', at least it's pretty without the dangers. Can't believe they closed schools!

Lois Christensen said...

They closed the schools for that? Just kidding. I'm glad you and Joy had fun in it!!!

Wow Tammy, I cant believe they closed schools. We got 3 feet last weekend and our schools were open, we're used to it of course but there have been a few days this week where we've gotten 12+ inches in a few hour period and they kept the schools open. Crazy isnt it?

I sure wish I could send some more for your sweet girl. I love snow but really I have plenty to share this year. Cute pictures!

I think we may have gotten a little more snow but not much. I don't think it matters how much you get when the area isn't use to it. People here drive crazy at times and don't realize how easy it is to hit a slick patch even in a little bit of snow.

Poor Joy...not fair to have school when everyone else doesn't... *laughing*

Take care and stay warm,
Debbie

We were expecting snow to, but didn't even get a dusting...but then we got a good snow on Dec 6th so I'm cool (no pun intended)with not getting any this time. Most people don't understand us closing schools down south when it snows even 1/2", but we are not prepared for snow, no snow tires or chains, no road graders or salt trucks...it just doesn't snow enough for us to spend the money it would cost to be prepared for it.
I sure wish Joy could have gotten the snow we did last time. She looks like she is having a ball.
Stay warm and have a great day.
Molly

HI Tammy,
not sure where you live, I am from Savannah, TN. We got as much snow as you and they canceled school for 2 days here. I am originally from Massachusetts so this is a tease for us. I miss getting all of the snow we had up north however, I am starting to like the dusting. No shoveling! LOL! Have a great weekend and I love your blog!

That is so funny! We did the same thing. We are in Alabama and we also got a dusting. We also homeschool but I made the kids still do math..even though the public schools closed!

Wow..I wish I could send some snow your way...we got about 15 inches yesterday and they didn't even close the schools!

Hi Tammy -
Our schools were out all week because the buses could get to the kids for all of the ice. We still have ice and flurries. I am ready for spring.

Glad you had fun.

I wish our schools closed for that much snow. lol. I kept my kids home yesterday because it was day three of 10 and under temps. We still have snow from two months ago under all the new stuff. I welcome you to take some! hehe

I was born and raised in southern California before moving to Colorado, so I still love the snow and our kids love it too.

I hope you all enjoyed celebrating your Mom's big day...

Well, I just checked on the price of a refrigerated truck and unfortunately, Mr Red Door would never get to retire if I did that so I can't promise I'll send you some. SORRY!

Joy looks so cute all bundled up. Her smile tells me she enjoyed what you did get! :-)

Hahaha Tammy!! We got the same amount and they cancelled school for 2 days, tehe. We enjoyed the time home and played the wii. I am ready for it to warm up now though!!

That's exactly what we got at our house - a good dusting! This mean mama made the kids have school too, so tell Joy she wasn't the only one!

I just read the wonderful news about your son, Luke! I'm so very happy for you. What a blessing!

Enjoy that snow. We took a drive today and enjoyed all the hay bales topped with a dusting. Its so pretty!

Despite the snow, I still can't resist thinking about the spring garden. Are you planning one this year?

Blessings, Lea

It's like that here Tammy, we usually only get an inch or two. Last year was different as we had a storm that brought 14 inches, and boy was that fun, but very unusual. So far this year we only had a dusting one time. So glad you had fun.
Blessings,
Marcia

I would trade you in a heartbeat! Our water has been frozen up twice. Our door keeps freezing shut. The snow is so light and fluffy, it keeps drifting and causing white-outs on the roads. It is too cold to melt. And our kids still had school! But, hey! We are still going to have spring and summer with gardens and swimming and picnics. It's all good.

Birgit said...

Oh please come take some snow... as much as you'd like. Joy can make a snowman and ship him home.
I think a trip to Maine for some snowmobiling and skiing would be fun for you.
Glad you made the best of the snow you got.
Hugs~ Birgit

Hey, I'm not laughing! I am jealous of your snow, lol! We only got maybe 5 flakes!

Hey Tammy! We have the cold but only got very light flurries for about a half hour. So we basically didn' get any of the white, fluffy stuff. I would enjoy having a little. It is definately cold enough! LOL!
Have a great week! Stay warm!

I can not believe that they called school. I feel for Joy however, but she looks like she is having fun.
She should come here and she could slide down my 10 ft drifts in my front yard.My grandson and his dog are having a ball on them.
Thanks for sharing your photos.

That's the amount of snow that I don't mind getting Tammy! ;) We had our share of snow here in Oklahoma! It snowed on Christmas Day, which was absolutely beautiful! There still is a tad bit of snow in our yard.. The temperature is getting much warmer out, so the snow that is out there won't last much longer. We are having a heat wave this week! We're suppose to get in the mid to high 40's and close to 50 this week!! Wahoo!!
Looks like Joy is lovin' playing in the snow! I know our kids always enjoyed playing in the snow too!

Love & Blessings,
~Lynn/OKC

Okay, Tammy- I'll admit- I did laugh... but only because that's about all the snow we got too! After the weather people telling us the big one was coming! (Hurumph- what do they know?)
Hope you're staying warm- it's still below freezing here!

Sorry, but that was cute, and sorry again, for I did chuckle. We have about a foot of snow, calling for freezing drizzle today.
As a child, I remember, hoping for snow myself and a snow day to boot.

Enjoy,
Mel
