My hubby is an especially happy man today.
And this is the reason why.
He has wished, dreamed, “window shopped” (online) and planned..........
And now he finally owns his own Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4 WD (not new, but new to us).
He’s walking around with a big grin on his face. It arrived Monday evening.
It looked like this when it arrived (from Delaware):
He removed the camper.
And starting the inevitable babying it and sprucing it up (with chrome). Now it looks like this:
And the best part is that there’s no monthly note to go with it!
:)
We’ll be trying it out on our little road trip to Georgia tomorrow morning to see Kim, Chuck, Dakota and Shiloh.
The up side to that: More leg room inside the truck than my little Mazda 3 S for a road trip. The down side: Jason is going to be very picky about letting us eat and drink in it (at least for the first 6 months). ...............So if you see a lady and two kids sitting on a curb at a gas station with a snack and drink, that will probably be us.
Shhh.......Don't tell Jason, but we're really excited about it too! :)

He Never Lets Us Forget.....
This was my favorite vehicle that we owned. It was a 1985 Mustang GT and it was mine! I remember the day Jason drove it up to the bank where I worked. At that time, it was silver, not white. It wasn't brand-new. It had belonged to someone else for about three or four months. But I knew the minute I saw it, I wanted it.

That car served us faithfully for many years. I remember us being packed like sardines in it when Colt and my nephew, Trey, were babies. They were three months apart. We would go shopping (and sometimes grocery shopping) with me driving, and either my mom or sister-in-law, Missy, in the passenger seat. Then we had one baby on one side, the other one on the other side and either my mom or Missy in between them (they would trade off). On top of that, it was only two doors and it was a 5-speed. So you can imagine how hard it was getting two babies in and out of the car especially with packages and all! But we did it! We looked like cool mamas, I guess! Or we might of looked like the Beverly Hillbillies somedays! :) We even had a bag phone for our car; anyone remember those?
The paint started chipping on it and my cousin that does body work, repainted it white for us, and I really liked that color even more! We drove that car for a total of eight years and decided we needed more of a family car with four doors. We sold it and got us a 1993 Buick LeSabre and it felt huge and so luxurious, but it didn't take me long to miss my cool Mustang with power! :)
Many times since then, I've missed that ole' car! No other car has given me the same feeling that car gave me. And I can't tell you how many times Colt has asked, "Why in the world did you sell that car? Why weren't you thinking of your future children? Did you not realize that we would want that car, especially your son?"
And to be honest with you, I wish we had.

"Black Beauty"
I'm sorry to disappoint any horse lovers reading this, but my "Black Beauty" is not a horse! It's the name we affectionately refer to when we are speaking of my car...a 2004 Mazda 3 Sport (that we drove 5 hours to see and pick up last year)!

Since we were leaving to go out of town, I wasn't planning on posting anything today, but I decided to do this at the last minute. Last night, as I was coming out of my mom's house (next door) where we left Joy while we went out for dinner...I pulled my camera out of my purse and snapped some pictures (my spur-of-the-moment-just-in-case camera) because I wanted to share something with you!
Jason has a "thing" about our car being clean before he takes me out (on a date) or before we go on a trip. Honestly, it wouldn't really matter to me if it was dusty or dirty at all, but it's important to him! It must be a "man thing". As a matter of fact, it's Friday a.m. now and we were supposed to leave over an hour ago, and he's out there rinsing it off again...as well as Colt's car! So I grabbed a minute to do this post! :)

I got to thinking though...I can't say too much...I have a "thing" about leaving my house "somewhat" picked up and tidy when we leave to go out of town. Now that doesn't always happen, but it makes me happy to return home to a picked up clean house. At 11:00 last night, I was vacuuming and picking up around the house....So are we normal...do any of you do these things?
I've learned to just appreciate a nice clean car (even though we're bound to hit the gravel roads!) and just compliment and thank Jason for washing the car because it IS important to him and besides....it really does look sharp when it's so shiny and sparkly!

So we're off this morning in Black Beauty....our CLEAN Black Beauty....to the Ozark foothills (and for some of you that thought this was a romantic getaway for the two of us....we're taking Joy too!) :) Colt has to stay home and work! Hopefully, I'll get a chance to post from where we're going!
I've also been either having trouble with Blogger or my computer in leaving comments...losing connection after I've typed a comment, so if you haven't "seen" me on your blog lately...I'm trying to get there! Maybe I can get "high-speed" internet this weekend and catch up! I hope to "see" you soon!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks also for all of you that left the sweet anniversary wishes and kind comments! :)
