I Love Dance Competition

Last weekend, Joy participated in her last dance competition for this year, "I Love Dance". Our dance school came out great at this one and there was really some stiff competition all the way around!

Joy placed 2nd in her jazz solo division, for her solo, "Tell Me Something I Don't Know". Her company juniorette class placed 1st in their jazz dance, "Hot" (in their race car costumes...so cute). They also placed 1st in their tap division for their tap dance, "Good Morning" (in their pj costume to the song from Singing in the Rain). And the big award (and I do mean big...it was a HUGE trophy) went to our dance school for our production performance, "Havana Heat", (a spanish inspired production).

There were numerous other awards from individual dancers as well as the other dance groups in our school. We were proud of each and every one!

Joy loves the socializing about as much as the dancing, I think! :)

We were also worn out by the end of the day! Joy fell asleep on the way home and I think she's been catching up on rest all week here and there!

Now we're on the home stretch toward recital day....the end of May.

Joy's First Official Solo Dance Competition

For those of you that stop by to see what's going on around here as far as decorating, I have to apologize that I have nothing to share in that department. We have lots of projects going on. At this point in our home, there are three rooms that are in some form of remodel mode. And the major reason we can't make alot of headway is because we can't stay home long enough a solid day to get alot accomplished (especially the weekends)!

This past weekend, we spent just about the entire day Saturday at the Star Systems Dance Competition. On this day, Joy competed with her first solo dance, "Tell Me Something I Don't Know". And I'm so excited to tell you that she won first place for her division (junior jazz solo) with a gold rating! We were so proud of her!

On Sunday, our dance school's company division performed the production number, "Havana Heat" and won 4th overall in that division. That was a really fun spanish number that was great! Joy has been talking about it so much and was so excited for us to see it, and it was fantastic.

My little girl is growing up quickly....she informed me that she wanted to put on her own makeup Sunday. And the part that she did, she did a great job!

We did manage to squeeze in painting trimwork in Joy's new bedroom Saturday night and I hope to give it another coat today. But wouldn't you know it, we have more plans this weekend.....my Grandma's 92nd birthday party! Oh well, one thing's for sure, keeping busy helps pass the time as we wait for our LOA to Luke!

In the meanwhile, thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great week! :)

Joy's First Dance Solo

Saturday, Joy performed her very first dance solo to Selena Gomez's "Tell Me Something I Don't Know". She performed in spite of having stomach problems and said she was very nervous. This was more of a practice competition. There were judges to critique, but it was more of a mock competition on a smaller scale with parents present....a chance to get the nerves worked out so they'll be ready for "the real thing"

We took this picture after we got home. The boots definitely weren't part of the costume...she just had them on here! lol! I'm still not used to all that makeup either! She just looks way too grown up for this mom's heart! I guess I can handle it for 3 times a year! The whole time I was putting it on her (they have specific makeup color/style requirements), she let me know how much she didn't like makeup! We'll see how long that lasts! :)

We were very proud of our little brown eyed girl! ! (You have to be patient at the beginning....there's a bit of a lead in waiting for her to start so we filled in with Brown-Eyed Girl). I hope you enjoy it!
