A Little Fall Inside (Part Two)

Thank you for the kind comments on the kitchen and dining room fall decor!  I appreciate each and every one!

I am back to share the little bit of fall decor in our living room/foyer and sunporch. I had taken more pictures than I realized and I'm still a little slow with the new blogger format, so it was easier to divide it into two different posts!

Keep in mind, it's very simple, and I only sprinkle small touches (I really don't have that many fall decorations) among my everyday decor.  However, I love the colors of fall, so I'm enjoying the added touches.

Anyway, we'll begin with the living room.

The fireplace:

A little closer look at the Mr. Scarecrow with the crow on his shoulder guarding the hearth:

And the mantle:

A little bit to the crates beside the recliner:

On the cedar chest coffee table are the pumpkins that Joy and Luke picked out when we went to pick apples.

On my makedo end table between the two recliners:

On the piano:

On the other end table, my "pump lamp table":

And a little in the foyer/entryway:

And just a little touch to the sunporch since that's the first place we see when we come into our home through the backdoor:

Mums instead of the geraniums on the potting bench would have been better.....but I don't have any yet.  :)  But then again, I could probably look at geraniums all year.....did I mention how much I love red?

Can you tell I love sunflowers?

And that's it.  That's fall inside our home.  As of now, I have a fall wreath outside my front door, but would love to add a little more out there.  Maybe I'll share that later, if I get to it!

I sure have enjoyed touring your homes seeing all the fall colors!  Before we know it, we'll be decorating for Christmas!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Have a great week!  :)

A Little Fall Inside (Part One)

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my little bit of fall decor inside our home, so I could share with you!     I don't have alot of fall decor but then sometimes a small touch is just enough.  I'm especially enjoying the bittersweet that Linda sent me.  I had fun sprinkling it about.  Those little orange berries make such a difference, adding a splash of color throughout.

Here's what fall looks like inside our home this year....we'll start with the kitchen:

And a little in the dining room:

Well, I guess I took more pictures than I thought.  How about I'll be back on my next post for Part Two with pictures from the living room/foyer and sunporch?

Hope you enjoyed the little tour through my kitchen and dining room as I shared my fall decor!

Have a great weekend!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  :)

Goodies in the Mail!

Who doesn't love goodies in the mail?

Within this week, we've had three packages....two surprises and one order....and we were thrilled about each one!  We love it around here when the mail lady honks....that means a package too big for the mailbox!

First of all, my bloggin' buddy, Linda, did the sweetest thing.  She said it was an experiment.  She read where I had never seen bittersweet before and that to my knowledge it didn't grow around here.  She decided that had to change.....I must see some and have some to add to my fall decor!  So she just boxed some up and sent it my way!  After she sent it, she was a little concerned about how it would arrive because it came during the hot spell we had.  But it was fine!  Some of the leaves were wilted, but the berries were perfect.  I was so excited to get that box!

Joy and I picked and cut berries from the branches and have been sprinkling them throughout the fall decor in our home.  To me, bittersweet adds to fall decor what holly berries and pine branches do to Christmas decor!  I love the splash of color those little burnt orange berries add!  Thank you so much, Linda!  (I'll be taking pics to show our fall decor this week sometime).

Next, was a package addressed to Luke.

My friend, Melissa and her beautiful daughter, Sofie, knew just what would make Luke extremely happy...wooden construction vehicles!  This was his first time to have a package arrive in the mail addressed to him only.....he tore into it and his reaction was "Cool"!
He's played with it constantly!  Thank you Melissa and Sofie!  You made one little boy here very happy this week!  :)

Last, but not least, I recently found Carmen's selling blog, Orchard Hollow.  I thought her apple cider and molasses soap sounded perfect for my upstairs bathroom that we're working on, so I placed an order right away.  I got my package super fast and I love this soap....it smells so yummy and will look great in there!  She even included an extra snowman tart melt! Thank you so much, Carmen!

I can't wait until the bathroom all comes together with all the accessories!

Until next time when I hope to be back with some indoor fall decor pics, have a great week and thanks for stopping by!  :)

Can We Fix It?

Bob Luke the Builder
Yes we can!  :)

My dad brought in Luke's own special helmet, personalized and all!  I can't tell you how many times a day we watch Bob the Builder and how many times I hear that little song, but suffice it to say that it is alot!

I'm counting my blessings because my friend, Kim, gave us 4 or 5 more videos they had.....so at least we're not watching the same ole episodes over.and.over.again.  :)

Wanted: Forever Families!

There are some of cutest kids on the BAAS individual list (which is our agency), waiting for their forever families to find them.  It was hard to pick which ones I wanted to mention, but I felt like it was supposed to be these today.

First of all, there's this little handsome guy that looks like he's loaded with personality.  I guess I'm automatically drawn to those personalities.  Spirited is what I call them!  Anyway, meet "Bart".

This is what it says about Bart:  Bart was born on 1-18-2005. His special needs are lower development indexes, meaning he is relatively small; his head is slightly oblate. He is a friendly, bright and curious boy who learns fast. He has outgoing personality and is very active.

That little guy looks like he could fill a home with so much fun, love, and laughter!

Next we have adorable "Molly".

This is what it says about Molly: Molly was born on 8-15-2009. Her special needs are congenital defect in left hand and leg.

It doesn't say anything about her personality, but I see personality written all over that cute little face!

BAAS (Bay Area Adoption Service) is a wonderful agency, and the coordinator for the Waiting Children Program is awesome....the best out there!

Could YOU possibly be the forever family to "Bart" or "Molly"?  Email me at countrygirlathome@att.net or Xiaoqing (BAAS China's coordinator) at xqcai@comcast.net.   If not you, then please pray with me that the invisible red thread connecting them to their forever families is found soon so they can come home!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great evening!  :)

ScEnTs oF fALL

It smells like fall in our home today............and here's the reason why:

Caramel apple pie fresh out of the oven.........made from Lisa's (Primitives from Above) recipe.

New yummy primitive room sprays.......stix and cider, mamaw's apple dumplings, and pumpkin crunch cake....

And my old faithful Yankee candle Autumn Wreath scent flickering in the kitchen.....

It sure does make a cozy fall atmosphere here in our home.   And I'm lovin' it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a great week!  :)

A Great Day for Apple Picking

Today we had our first homeschooling "field trip" for the school year.  Our homeschool group visited a local apple orchard for apple picking.

When we woke up this morning, I told Luke that we had to get ready because we was going to pick apples.  He obviously didn't understand what that meant because he came to the breakfast table, expecting an apple for breakfast.  When he didn't get that, he told my mom on the phone something about an apple as well as jabbered about apples in the car on the way over.  Then when we stopped to check in at the market, he noticed some baskets of apples, and I guess he thought we were buying apples then, and was very excited.  I had to tell him again, that he was going to pick apples off a tree. (It's hard to remember that he doesn't know the meaning of all those English words just yet).  Well needless to say when we arrived at the orchard and he had his little bag, and caught on to what we were doing, he had quite a time!

He picked and picked until his little bag was so full that he had to drag it behind him!

Joy had no trouble filling her bag either!  I was a little worried about how much we would owe at check-out, but it turned out that we ended up only spending $5 on apples!

Joy and her friend, Molly Grace posed for a picture at the orchard.

After picking, we headed back down the gravel road to the market, to pay for our apples, and even added a package of deep fried peanuts (which I had never had and are actually pretty good).  I wish I had tried the cajun deep fried ones though.

We noticed they had pumpkins.  Joy and Luke picked out a pumpkin each to take home.  Luke kept trying pumpkins, until he finally found one he could lift and handle!

Of course, we had to take a photo in the pumpkins.

And in the corn stalks.

It was a lovely day for a field trip.....wasn't quite as hot and I think I can tell that the cooler weather is headed our way.  There was a little breeze in the air.

Then it was home for Mr. Luke to take his nap.  He slept for a little over 3 hours, so I think we wore him out.  He left his half eaten apple sitting beside him waiting for him when he woke up.... so he could finish it.

Now it's time for the caramel apple pie and apple dumplings........something nice to look forward to this weekend!  :)
