After a long wait, we're finally giving our hall bathroom a much needed facelift. It's really time for my pink (or pepto bismol as I call it) walls to say farewell! Since Jason has five days off for the holiday weekend, guess what our plans are! Although, I do hope to fit in some family fun into the mix too!
Our hall bathroom is not big at all...it is actually fairly small. But besides our master bath, this one gets the most use. All three of our bathrooms need a makeover, but this one goes first. This is the bathroom used by visitors to our home, most often, as well as the kids' bathroom.
Just to give you an idea of changes to come, I'm going to show you some "before" pictures. I didn't remember to snap pictures until I had already removed alot of the decor in there, but I went ahead and took them. You can at least see the "before" wall color, flooring, cabinets and shower curtain.
Jason and I spent some time awhile back picking out our wall and cabinet colors, countertop, faucet, tile, trim and even the prim shower curtain. Here's the granite countertop and sink that will be put in...it's called desert gold. (And again, this picture doesn't show true colors...it has more gold or mustard in it than it appears here).
The walls are already painted, as I said before, in a warm rich color called bread basket. Although this picture really doesn't do it justice with the lighting in there, you can get some idea from this picture. In person, this color actually has more gold undertones. Please excuse the mess too....the construction zone!
I'm really excited because Jason actually agreed to painting the vanity cabinet in there! I was fine with that rather than buying a new one! It's hard to believe that this guy that loves his wood so much agreed to painting them. We didn't paint our kitchen cabinets because he just couldn't bear to see that great oak covered and I respected his wishes because I want him to be proud of what we do (together) and satisfied with the results too! But, I do have to say, that I'm VERY excited that I get painted cabinetry in here! And the color we picked out is a pretty barn red/burgundy called calico! As a matter of fact, it's already painted and Jason and I distressed it yesterday evening!
So the next step will be putting up trim, laying tile and puttting the cabinet back in; then the countertop and faucet. Also in the plans is a cabinet like Linda's that she tells me is called a tombstone cabinet.
And then the fun part begins.......decorating! Can you tell I'm excited????
Darn you girl. I wanted to see more pictures. I love the wall color. Your cabinet color choice is going to be fantastic. I wish my hubby would let me paint our vanity. Maybe when your bathroom is all done, I will show him how good yours turned out and he will reconsider. Good luck on finishing it up.

Three bathrooms... we have only one, but it isn't small. We did a redo back in 1994, but it now needs another one. When we moved in the bathroom was a bright pink... sponge painted. It was hideous. We have three rooms to redo before the bathroom... it will just have to wait.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose. I'm looking forward to seeing the project completed
How exciting! I can't wait to see the finished product. Love that wall color!

Looks good so far, bathrooms are no fun. We did three this past year not completely but almost. My husband has replaced 3 toilets and 3 floors due to damage. Good news was I got rid of floor to ceiling mauve and pink flowers!
ReplyDeleteGood luck

when i moved in with my hubby his kitchen was about that same color of pink.. over this fake brick looking paneling..so i painted it hunter green the cabinets were and still are barn red.. the pink and red looked like crap.. the green and red look good.. not my first choice but hey beggers cant be choosers huh..
ReplyDeletei cant wait to see it decorated.. i love that color youve painted it.
This is going to look great....I love the wall color and the vanity painted will add so much. Can't wait to see your shower curtain and finished room all decorated. You do such a great job!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the bathroom completed its goona look so good!! The wall color is gorgeous!! Have a great day Tammy!!:0) Wendy
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see it done..love these colors you are choosing so much more then the pink...have a wonderful weekend...:)
ReplyDeleteThe wall color has already made a huge difference! I love it. I think since the vanity is older it is a good idea to paint instead of putting money there..painted wood is very prim! I know you will do a great finish on it. I did the same thing in my bathroom if you want me to show you. I painted mine green and then went over it with a dark glaze..rubbing most of the glaze off. Then. I just bought new knobs. Wayyyy cheaper than buying a whole new vanity! Have fun working together.

How exciting! Love the new color and the granite top is really nice! Our old house had a pink pepto bismal coloring as well! Only the floors were tiled in that pink, the walls, and even the ceiling!!! All tiled pink! It was pretty awful and I was so happy we moved into our new house! Can't wait to see the pictures of it all done! Enjoy your weekend and I hope you can squeeze in a barbecue!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bread basket! I'm pretty sure we used that same color in our "new" basement. I bet you were excited to get rid of the pink. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I love that color--very similar to our great room and it is called 'earth'. Your bathroom will be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat pink and victorian is so not you......
Lucky girl!
