It's a happy day around here when the mail lady arrives with a package, but it's a really happy day around here when the Fed-Ex guy pulls up with our Sonlight books!
It's so exciting to see what reading adventures await us for the year! For those of you not familiar with Sonlight, it is very literature rich. We spend a great deal of our school time independently reading and me reading aloud, which is my favorite part of homeschooling by the way. :)
And this year, there was even more excitement. Gleaning from the years of excitement watching his sister get a box of books and have a love of reading, Luke was thrilled to get his own box of Sonlight books - his very own Core!
And then today, Luke got another box of extra goodies....educational games and puzzles to supplement our Sonlight through Timberdoodle, which I also love by the way! This adds lots of hands-on elements to the reading and writing! :)
Now we've got all our books......we're ready to get this thing started. Although we just "eased" into school with a subject or two, our first official day of school will be this Monday! I think I'm ready......yes, I'm ready! :)
Thanks for stopping by! :)

Hi Tammy!
ReplyDeleteIs that Core 100 surrounding Joy?
I cannot buy Sonlight this year. I'll miss it. Maybe I can figure out a way to patch something together.
Our best school years have been Sonlight years.
~smile~
Blessings,
Laura

ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Hope you have a wonderful school year!
ReplyDeleteMama,
ReplyDeleteI love Box Day! :) It was especially fun this year, watching the excitement on Luke's face. :) It's going to be fun delving into the different books this year! :)
Love you! 8!

Oh how exciting! I imagine it is a bit like Christmas, the excitement of opening the boxes to see what joys lay inside. I love their smiles! My God bring you much joy and knowledge through the school year!

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!!! Luke and Joy looked thrilled. How wonderful to homeschool your children. I believe you will reap many blessings from it....Have a great school year. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how exciting it would be to see the box and just waiting to get it open and find all the goodies and books inside!! I am hoping to be a teacher, and I have always enjoyed school and getting books for school even though I wasn't homeschooled, so this kind of thing is such a thrill to me too :)
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have a great start to school! Also, I just came from reading your Faithful Friday post- I enjoyed reading it, and it was such a good reminder to me!
Blessings & hugs,
Jazzmin
Ahhhhhhhh August is here! I will have to say it is NOT my favorite month! But school is here! I started with my 22 1st graders last Thursday and now will be gone tomorrow as Lacey is being induced with baby boy! I'm off tomorrow and pondering how I'm going to sleep tonight anticipating his arrival! LilyJo is excited we think! We have been practicing for months with a baby doll.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for Joy and Luke with all the fabulous goodies they got! How exciting! Can't wait to hear how the first day goes!
Thinking of you !
Hugs,
Tanya
