There are memories made on porches.......in days gone by especially. In those days when times were simpler and folks weren't on the go constantly running their children to extracurricular activities, they would gravitate to the porch in their rockers, swings, or benches, and watch the kids play in the yard during the day or catch fireflies after dark, while they enjoyed simple conversations ,sipping their lemonade or coffee. Porches were actually just an extension of their living space. Families LIVED a great deal of their lives on porches.
I love the appeal of porches. Every house I could or have ever dreamed of living in or imagined in my life has ALWAYS had a porch. And I admit that I will slow down and take a closer look at porches when I drive by them.....whether they be large meandering wrap-arounds or cozy small ones......they all draw me in!
Wanna take a stroll with me today as I stop by and visit some pretty and inviting porches? We can imagine who lives there and what it would be like to visit for awhile on these cozy welcoming porches!
Okay, let's go......
I just love that last one! Whoever lives there would have a hard time getting me to leave!
And mine seems so simple compared to some of these, but I worked with what I have. :) Here's our front porch this summer.....
Thanks for taking a stroll with me today. I hope you enjoyed the porch tour! I bet you had a favorite that you could imagine yourself on right about now! :)
Take time to grab you a cool glass of lemonade or a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy YOUR porch. Enjoy the simple moments!

Your porch is inviting.

Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI love porches also. I've only had one porch out of all the rental houses I have lived in. I loved it and sat out there all the time. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those simple days like when we were children...wish my children could experience that lifestyle just once.

I love your porch. I will take the log cabin with the wrap around please. Set by a lake. That would be a dream of mine. We are getting ready to expand our porch a bit. My brother is going to cover the old tired concrete with used brick and expand it a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love porches too! I have always thought that so much living and sharing happens out on the porch. Your photos are lovely and so is your porch. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the one with the fireplace and YOURS!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the porches! Each one is unique.
ReplyDeleteCertainly enjoyed the porch visit. I,along with you, like the last one. Oh my. They were all wonderful and yours is too. I love and enjoy my porch. It never looks "right" to me, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteYou picked a lot of great ones there. I love porches too!
ReplyDeleteYes I do love porches! Right now I do not have one on this old farmhouse but hopefully within a year. One of our goals is to build a front porch. Just love, love, love! Thanks for all the lovelies....Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love porches, too, Tammy. My grandparents lived much of their lives on their porch. Your porch is very inviting..I love the bench with the birdhouses. I have 2 rockers on my porch and would love someone to help me add some special touches to make it more inviting!
ReplyDeleteVisiting the porches with you was a lot of fun. I miss my back porch at home.
ReplyDeleteOh Tammy, one of my favorite rooms, a porch...love all the pictures you posted, really wonderful all of them and Tammy, I adore your porch, you would have a hard time getting me to leave, :). Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI loved this so much... such an inviting, lovely post!! I enjoyed all the photos and they are all so cozy and wonderful looking, it was hard to pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI just loved your opening paragraph. That is how I see porches too... I love to imagine how it was in older days when times were more simple. I like to think about families that sat on their porches and watched the world go by or watched the storms roll in on the prairie from their porch in their rocking chairs. Things like that. When I think of country porches, it may sound silly but I think of The Waltons and how simply they lived also.
Your porch is so pretty just like your home :)
Have a blessed rest of the week!
I love porches too! Great pictures it almost too hard to choose just one, overall I love the house and porch in the first one--it looks so welcoming.
ReplyDeleteBut there is something about all of them that draws you in.
WOW!!! You aren't going to believe this!! I have been saving pictures of porches to make an entry about porches also!! We even have some of the very same porches!! It's AMAZING that our GREAT MINDS think ALIKE!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of your pictures and I'd love to sit on your porch and share conversation over coffee!!
My porch has been a sanctuary at times for me. I wish more people knew what they were missing. When my kids are all over,if the weather permits,we are always outside, more room there! Just as you said...kids,and dogs running around the yard, grown ups talking loud so we can hear ourselves over the kiddos :)
ReplyDeleteWhen it gets dark,we light the oil lamps to fight the bugs away. Good times indeed! I love the porches you shared...blessings friend.
Love porches and those are some beautiful ones, but I think yours is equally beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all charming in their own ways, esp those log ones ;-) Your's is pretty and simple, means is easier to sweep clean ;-)
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for pulling up the memories of porches I was blessed to grow up on.
As I was reading your post I was thinking of my grandparents, both sides, porches and the different activities done during my childhood there, what wonderful memories.
And I/we still love spending time out on our porches.
Have a blessed day,
Kim in OK
