Rainy Days

We’ve had overcast rainy days this past week………several of them. And we have rain in the forecast for the next five days too.

The rains so far have been a nice slow steady rain, with a few mild summer thunderstorms.

But you know, I love a rainy day. Well I love being home snug inside on a rainy day. Rainy days at home are cozy. I love to turn on the lamps, light my candles (or tart warmer) and just nest. I love hearing the raindrops on the window. On rainy days, I enjoy reading, watching movies with the kids, and it even inspires me to tweak and clean my house. They’re also good days for naps.

I remember playing outside in the water puddles after a rain as a kid.  Yes, my mom would let us put on our swimsuits and play in the water puddles on our non-busy street.  My mom associates rainy days with paper dolls.  She must have played alot of paper dolls on those rainy days.

Rain gets a bad rap sometimes. There are so many poems and quotes with rain associated with sadness, hurt, or grief. But truly, the rain brings life. Everything is so green after a rain (which we certainly needed, especially our garden). And then there’s also those beautiful rainbows too.

Do you enjoy rainy days? If it’s not raining in your neck of the woods, you can close your eyes and imagine a summer rainstorm. This video is done entirely by people making the sounds of a rainstorm with their bodies and by jumping on the stage.  So hit the play button; close your eyes; and enjoy.

"The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain."  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend, whether it be rainy or sunny!  :)

  2. I was a little girl...one time my Mommy and I were invited to my Grandma's church for a ladies luncheon. Mom bought me the prettiest dress to wear. Mom and I were all ready to go and she said okay go on out by the car and I will be right out. Well, I went out and stomped through all the mud puddles in my pretty new dress. We have pictures of me all wet and muddy. I needed a bath! Thankfully, I had another nice dress to wear. No one ever let me forget the day I enjoyed the mud puddles. We sure do need rain here in western NY. Have a great weekend. Enjoyed the "rain" video.

  4. That is the coolest video, Tammy! Since we wait forEVER for summer to arrive where I live, I'll take the sun! Most of our year is rainy... this part of BC is called the Lower Mainland... aka the Lower Rainland!

  6. Thanks for the video you posted! I so miss rainy days! They are rare where we live. I don't miss the humidity after the rain in summer but do miss the clear air smell. Arkansas is always so pretty with the green trees and grass. I know the southern part of the state really needs some rainy days.

  8. Beautiful pics! I love the rain too. When it rains a lot, I always remember when I was in my grandparents' house and forming a small river that ran through the meadow, then we entered my cousins and I used to play some fun and swim for hours. The house of my parents was in cement, but my aunt was a small house with tin roofs and when it rained the roof sounded so special, so it hast ran home just to listen to the rain. Fond memories of my childhood..
