An Unwanted Birthday Surprise

On Wednesday, Colt's actual birthday, he wasn't feeling very well. I took him in to the Dr. and she said he had a bit of a throat infection and some sinus problems going on. She went ahead and gave him a couple of shots, just because usually if they don't, he's back in within a week even sicker. She also called him in some meds too. Well he was better until last night. He's a manager at a steakhouse in town. He called us and asked if we could come drive him home because he was so sick. We're pretty sure it's the flu....he's aching all over, with a bad headache, a fever of 101, head spinning, and even more cold-like symptoms. And he's one to never stop unless he's really sick. He just keeps on going...kind of like the energizer bunny! Since we were just in, I called his Dr. and from what I described, she was sure that was what he had and called him in Tamiflu.

Unfortunately, we are going to miss my Grandma's 91st birthday celebration today in Alabama. We had planned to get up really early this morning and be there for her party, then drive back home all in the same day so Colt could be back at work tonight to close. This changed those plans. Obviously, he can't go and we wouldn't want to pass this along to anyone else, especially my Grandma! We definitely didn't want to leave him home all alone and sick either! So we'll be staying home making sure he stays in bed resting so he can get over this nasty flu! Now hopefully, the rest of us won't get it!

And look what came in today's mail for me! I'm looking forward to sitting down and savoring every bit of it over the weekend!

And on top of that...you all know that Linda's home is featured and I can never get enough of looking at pictures of her home! I love all of these photos! I love they way they are presented in here and I keep noticing the smallest details!

And thank you all for the happy birthday wishes for Colt! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get lots of your planned projects accomplished in the beautiful weather I think alot of us are supposed to have! :)

  1. Oh, Tammy I hope he's feeling better, Samantha had it and then Michele both were so sick. Michele missed a day and a half of work, the flu seemed to last a good 24 hours. Now Sydney and I are just waiting for it to strike us:) It's good that you didn't go to your grandmother's I'd hate to see someone older get this.

Have a great, relaxing time with the magazine...the pictures are to die for aren't they?

  2. Tammy,
I hope Colt gets feeling better and that no one else gets it in your family. It's such a nasty virus going around this year. Too bad about missing your grandma's birthday but I'm sure she understands. The magazine is wonderful and I liked the pics and article better than CS. Linda took her own pictures ~ she did an awesome job. Have a relaxing weekend.

  7. Oh poor guy. I am so sorry he has the flu. I had it once and it kept me in the bed for over a week and then when I was feeling better I was so weak. I could only work half days for another week. Tell Colt to just take it easy and don't push himself.

I'm sorry you had to miss your Grandma's party but our babies always come first don't they no matter how old they are. :) Stay well and try to enjoy your weekend.

  13. I am so sorry he got so sick on his birthday week! And also sorry you all had to miss your grandma's birthday...Hope he has a quick recovery and is feeling himself again soon!
My own mom is going to be 82 next week! I can hardly believe that...funny how my little girls have such a "old" grandma but we're thankful she is in reasonably good health!

OK, Tammy...now I understand why you got behind commenting on my blog with all that's going on...but you have to come over and see the Anne post (the one right underneath my current show and tell of a 1917 newspaper...)
    Hugs,

  15. Oh I'm so sorry Tammy... Sorry you can't see your Grandma and sorry that Colt is sick. I do think you are smart not exposing Grandma to any germs. I heard that the flu is really going around now. A couple of the schools in Knoxville were closed on Friday because of flu. SO--be careful. Hope the rest of you don't 'get' it....

Have a great week.. We're heading to your state to go to our favorite place, Mt. Nebo... We'll be home Sat.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  17. Hi Tammy! Sorry I haven't been by for such a long time. So sorry to hear about Colt! Hope he recovers quickly. Certainly is no fun having the flu. My hubby and older son have it right now, and they are both feeling pretty crummy.

I'm so jealous you have the latest edition of Mercantile Gatherings. I'm really hoping I get mine soon. It will be my last one, and then I need to beg my hubby to renew my subscription. LOL! It's kind of expensive since I have to pay for an international subscription. But I love that magazine!

  19. That sounds like the flu for sure. Hopefully, the tamiflu will shorten the life of it. Maybe the rest of you won't get it. You will all be in my prayers.
