A few posts back, you saw the upstairs loft hangout spot for Colt and his friends when they're playing music. Now would you like to see where he lives when he's home and not either eating, watching a movie with us or playing the Wii in the living room?
This is his bedroom. It's located downstairs, right across from ours. The way our home is designed, we have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths downstairs. The upstairs is pretty much an extra for us. It has the open loft area that serves the multi purposes that I shared on a post below when they were playing music. There is also a guest bedroom and a bathroom upstairs. I did think that one day, Colt would decide to move up to that bedroom, just for a little more privacy, but it's never interested him. He's been content to be right down here with us, right across the hall.
He has a futon which serves him well. He sits in there and strums on his guitar, does homework for his college classes, talks on the phone, or plays/works on the computer. (And remember he does most of our laundry, so there's usually a pile of clothes in there that he's working on in between this...multi-tasking, I guess).
See that corner entertainment center? Jason made that....many years ago. It has a cabinet that closes off the small TV that he has in there.
As tempted as I get to go in there and put decorating touches on it, I try to restrain myself and let him have it how he wants it...which is not anything country style. I have a feeling when he has his own place, it will be very modern decor....something like loft style.
The dresser over by the futon is an antique that I bought before he came home to us and it was in his nursery, then later in Joy's nursery, and then returned back to Colt. I have always loved that piece.
And that is where our 19 (soon to be 20) year old son, Colt, "lives" when he's not working or in school. So where does your teenager "live"?
Tammy,
ReplyDeleteColt has a nice room. What a beautiful piece your hubby made for him! He's such a carpenter!
Thanks for the info on the navy. Today, I'm totally feeling that I should just get the hunter green paint. I don't use green in my house much and the green hutch got me to add that in to the bathroom and make it a little different than the rest of the house. I liked that it was different, just never loved the shade of green nor the white washing they did in spots on it. I always knew I would repaint one day and it's actually lasted longer than I thought! LOL
Have a great day :)

I agree - we need to let them have their room the way they want it. Our kids each had a turn living downstairs in the big family room with adjoining bath. It was like their own suite. I couldn't even bear to look in it sometimes it was such chaos. But it was theirs and they loved it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great entertainment center Jason built!!
I'm surprised you could show a teenagers room!!! Most of them are not presentable. Hats off to your son.

What a great room ! That cabinet and shelving is wonderful ! That's what my son needs. This was a fun post. I'll have to go along and share my kids rooms later this week. That will make them have to clean up if they know I'm going to take pictures! :-)
ReplyDeleteColt's room is so neat! And your husband is very talented. I bet he can make anything you want.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room! It looks perfect for a boy his age when he is home!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour son's room is so nice and spacious. My kids would love to have rooms that large to spread out in.
ReplyDeleteThe entertainment center that your dh made is beautiful, as is everything he makes.
Joy's desk space turned out wonderful too.
Blessings to you for a wonderful day today!
Hugs~ Birgit
What a nice room Colt has. Wonder if he could give Josh (DS) some tips on keeping his room clean and neat.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful room/hangout!
ReplyDeleteI could never show my teenagers rooms! I don't even look in there...it would make me scream!
How do you get him to do all the laundry?
WOW!! I'm impressed with how clean his room is--good for him!! My two teenage daughters have their own rooms downstairs. Both do a pretty good job of staying organized and clean. Gotta love the business of teen-agers and the energy they have. Hope you have a super day. Julie
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteColt has a great room and the entertainment center is just awesome as well as that antique dresser. Did you say he does the laundry?? Wow, good for him & for you.
Pam
I am in total AHHHH. I would kill over if Jessica kept her room half that neat. She is a great kid but a slob. Eleni on the other hand is pretty neat. I'm not sure if I can get the nerve up to post their bedrooms. :)

Hi Tammy, Colt sure does keep a clean room... My three sons' rooms never looked that good..
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how fast kids grow up???? My sons are 45, 39 and almost 38 now... Yipes!!!!!
So you can tell---there are no teenagers living here now!!!! ha
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow, what a clean room your son has.
ReplyDeleteI love the entertainment center it is so beautiful.
My sons now have homes of their own so we don't have teenagers in our home now.
God bless
Tammy, Colt's bed room is really nice and sooo very neat! :) Love his entertainment center that Jason built for him! I love Colt's antique dresser that's in his room too! His bed room looks perfect for a young man's room!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Tammy!
Love & Blessings,
~Lynn
I think Colt's room is really cool for his age. It's not kiddish, but it's not really old looking. I wish I had as big a room as he does. =D
ReplyDeleteLove, Joy =D
Hi, Tammy~ What a cool guy's room! My son's room is RED! I love it! He is 17, and keeps his room clean like your son does. Amber on the other hand....has a bit of trouble in that area. :-)
ReplyDeleteKaren
That dh of yours is awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd a son who does laundry? Amazing!
And he is so tidy.......
Colt has a nice sized room! Love all those shelves and storage/cabinetry that he has! My stepson's room is red, white & blue but I think he wants a change!
ReplyDeleteNice room and very clean which make it even nicer!! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI could never of shown my boys rooms. They take after their father in the 'messy' department. I like the entertainment center. Your DH could do well making furniture for others but then it would probably take the fun out of it.
ReplyDeleteI checked out Joy's blog and its very enjoyable. She's really good. You should definately be proud.
Debbie
That definitely has a "man-cave" feel to it!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how neat and organized he is, Tammy! You sure raised that boy right! LOL
What a great room your son has...love the storage!
ReplyDeleteOur 3 boys all share one room ~ 19, 14 & 11. Quite a range of tastes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. At night I can hear them giggling and whispering and I know they're making memories that will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteRight now, we're looking for a small couch to put in there so they can really chillax!
Smiles,
lea
Colt's room looks great! The piece hubby made is beautiful! And I agree we need to let them have their own space and it have their decorating and style. I love the dresser that both kids used in their nursery. It's too cool.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Hugs and Blessings,
Your son's romm is nice and tidy..I would be afraid to reveal where my 16 yr old son lives. My husband says it's the city dump, Son calls it his organized mess....
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Shelley
Colt has a nice room. It has been many years since I've had teenagers. Their rooms pretty much looked like a tornado hit them. I just shut the doors :-)
