Ann (with an "E")

That's very important......Ann with an "e" (Anne) of Green Gables.......I can't tell you how much we are enjoying this movie. It has been MANY years since I've seen this on Hallmark and Joy has never seen it. (I'm afraid I've broken my rule of read the book first though). My friend, Tammy, and her family, have enjoyed this recently and jogged my memory on it! I'm happy to say that it was on my Netflix list and arrived in the mail yesterday. Joy and I sat up way too late captivated by it! We had to turn it off with plans to continue it. Of course, I have the sequels in our Netflix queue to watch after these.

There's so much I love about Anne! What a breath of fresh air she is and what a spunky girl. She reminds me of my Joy so much (a little of myself when I was younger)! You've got to love that imagination and romantic notions of hers!

All I can say is if you've missed this movie, you've missed a good one! These are the types of movies I want to share with my family....movies that make you want to build character! (And did I mention that I LOVE that house and the inside decor?) :)

  4. I also love the movie series, and part of what endeared her to me was the way she introduces herself...Anne, with an E. I have done the same my whole life because I am Lynne (with an E)!

I think I just may "revisit PEI" myself.

  7. I just love this movie, I watched it with my GD a couple of months ago on Hallmark Channel.
The American Girls Series is another great set of shows to watch. So wholesome and clean and safe for children to watch

  10. The books are a little too hard for my Emily to wade through, but I'm planning on letting her watch the movies next school year. :o)

  11. I have never seen this movie. I may have to look into renting this.

We recently read To Kill a Mockingbird. Well, Eleni had to read it for school. I'm not a big reader but I really enjoyed the book. I agree read the book first because the movie is ually different. I was so pleased when Eleni did see the movie she could tell me what was missing from the book.

Tammy you make me misss my girls being young. I miss all those times we used to share. Sometimes I can sneak some one on one in with Eleni but Jessica is like Colt never here. Thanks for the movie reveiw.

  16. Yes, its one of my all time favorites! My library still has it on vhs tapes and once in a while I'll check it out over the weekend, especially if I am going to be alone. Also sometimes it is on PBS. I am totally captivated by it! I love the sequels too! Sorry to say I never read the books.

  17. I'm a huge fan of Anne of GG...one day I hope to visit Prince Edward Island. In fact, I love everything written by L.M. Montgomery...my dd was named after the Emily of New Moon series.

  19. Hi Tammy, Awe--that brings back memories!!! Great movie!!!! Are there any good movies like that these days--for kids???? TV doesn't seem to ever offer anything good these days for kids.... Maybe there is alot of good stuff and I just don't know about it.

    Hugs,

  20. Now that sure brings me back, Tammy! I remember enjoying those movies too. They used to run the series on PBS and I so enjoyed following along.

Connor is very much into pioneer times right now. He's reading "Farmer Boy" at school and he and I are reading "Little House in the Big Woods" together right now -- with Michaela eagerly listening too. How I love those tried and true classics...

  21. I am SO thrilled that you and Joy have discovered (and re-discovered!) Anne!
And to think I played a small role in that...very fun!
In fact, we also have the audio version on CD which is so well done, with most of the characters' voices sounding a lot like the famous televised version...and would you believe the girls and I were just listening to it tonight at bedtime?! :)

Our whole family hopes to go to PEI someday...(even though we live as far away as you can get!) ;)

    Lots of Hugs,
    ~Tammy

  23. We watched the Anne of Green Gables series. Not just my daughter and I...the whole family!
My boys AND husband enjoyed it.
Another good series is the 'Love Comes Softly' series.

  24. That series is one of my favs. On a cold snowy day, cooped up in the house with a fire, hot cocoa, and soup on the stove, just watch the series for about 16 hours, then watch the Love comes Softly series, then Sarah Plain and Tall series. Great to cover up and sew those hand dids. Have a wonderful week, hopefully though it will get warmer soon.
