A New Blog and a Favorite Homeschooling Moment

Joy has been asking for sometime now to have her own blog. She really is interested in writing and photography. We decided to let her give it a try. She will be using it to share some of her homeschooling adventures, creative writing assignments, her thoughts and interests, as well as some of her family and friends occasionally. She is asking for her own digital camera for her birthday, which is real soon, so she wants to practice on her photography skills too. With close supervision, we feel like this will be a good way for her to gain practice in many skills, including her typing and computer skills, not to mention the spelling and grammar that she will use. When you're having fun, you don't even notice you're learning! I'm sure she would love it if you would stop by and visit. She thought hard on the name, Doodlebug. She has been having fun setting everything up and taking pictures (with our cameras). She asked me to put the link on here today.

And I thought I would leave you with one of our homeschooling moments. Jason took this picture of Joy and me. This is very typical of our days, since we do ALOT of reading. You don't always find Joy right beside me...sometimes she might be lounging on the couch listening or she's even been known to be hanging upside down off the chair or couch, but when it comes to listening skills...she has them! It's amazing what a kid can hear when they can move a little! On this day, just a week or so ago, Joy was snuggled up to me....and Matty (one of our cats) was snuggled up to her. I love the moments that reading together creates. I have to say hands-down, this is my very favorite part of homeschooling!

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

  9. Hi Tammy!
I am so tickled for Joy having her own blog! I just can imagine how excited she must be!! I tried to leave a comment on her blog, but wasn't able to. I might try to leave one again later.. There wasn't an anonoymous choice on her blog... I tried using the google account, but it didn't work for me..

I've got to get my blog started, like I've been saying for these past few months! I'm just one big scaredy cat..so afraid I'll mess us something along the way of making it! I've got to really try to start one, one of these days!

That sure is a neat picture of you and Joy and your kitty cat! I love your hair in the picture Tammy!

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

    Love & Blessings,
    Lynn/Okc

  10. First of all, thank you so much for the birthday greetings! :)
I had a nice dinner out last night but am here this morning alone since the girls are spending the night and my hubby is still not home from inventory...hopefully any minute though!

What a beautiful picture of the two of you...in more ways than one!

And uh-oh...my girl has two penpals- and now within a week of each other, both are starting their own blogs!!!
I told her she couldn't have one at the moment for various reasons...now I'm going to be in even bigger trouble! LOL
Congrats to her though...she'll definitely be checking it out and replying to her once it's set up!

    Hugs,

  16. Well, I have to say I am impressed Tammy not only because you home school, but with make-up and jewlery on. That's a great picture of you and Joy. I agree the computer can be a great teacher. I remember when we first got a computer it took my girls no time to catch on. Like you said it was fun and they didn't even know they were learning. I'm going over and check out Joy's blog.
