Are you wondering what my Mama and Elvis have to do with each other? Well first of all, they share a birthday, not to mention the fact that my Mama also brought me up listening to Elvis records! Today, January 8th, my mother is turning sixty-five.
I'm really blessed to have a mother like mine. She is a wonderful Christian example of what a mother should be. We've always been close. Thanks to her guidance, I am the person I am today. I have great memories from my childhood. She knew how to guide me through those teenage years too....and dating! We prayed together for the guy I would marry...for the babies I wanted after I was married...and many more things along the way. We prayed for her too. Two and a half years ago, she was diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer. She came through that great and is still getting good reports every time she goes to the doctor. (PTL!)
My mom (and dad) live next door to me. I'm so glad! We might not see each other everyday, but we always talk (usually many times). I love having them next door!
Today, I just want to say Happy Birthday, Mama. I'm very proud to call you my mother. Thanks for the way you (and daddy) raised me!
I love you!
~ Tammy ~
(Enjoy the Elvis music...Mama's favorite Elvis song, "Loving You" was also played at our wedding...we tell everyone that Elvis sang at our wedding.)
And last of all, I'll leave you with her favorite scripture....she used to put this in my lunch often with the notes that she always put in there for me!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
Tammy~That is a wonderful birthday tribute to your mom...I love how you call her Mama!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Mama....wishing you the happpiest of days today and always!

Tammy ~ I want to wish your mom a very Happy Birthday. What a wonderful mom she was to you and how great they live next door to you. We lost Simon's mom 3 years ago and my mom 2 years ago and oh, how we miss them. There's just nobody like a mama.

Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI hope your Mom has a wonderful and blessed birthday. I admire your relationship. I would have loved to been that close to my Mom. We talk usually everyday but we are so different as well as my oldest daughter and I. It's not easy being a Mother. It's the hardest job unfortunately we don't get paid for it!

Tammy--I am SO glad I read your post today. I don't think it was by happenstance either. I am going to put that scripture in my daughter's lunch tomorrow. She is having high school drama, and has been VERY hurt by a friend she's had since kindergarten. She is trying to understand this new challenge in her life and cope with it in a Christian way. She is a very Christ-like girl, and this scripture will help her so much right now. I have been praying, thinking, begging... to find something to say or do that might help her. That scripture is the answer. Thank you and your Mom for your goodness. Tell her happy birthday from me. You have blessed my life. Hugs to you----Julie

(Beautiful inside and out!)
I loved seeing her adorable childhood pictures...and love your tribute to her!
She and I (and Elvis, whom I had a little crush on when I was maybe six yrs old!) share a January birthday!
It sounds like you have been been truly blessed with her as your mom...and she probably feels the same way about you as her daughter!
Hugs!

Tammy, thanks for your kind words. We have had that furniture quite awhile, got it from JCPenny & had to pay the shipping, but I've seen some beautiful upholstery fabrics similar @ Joanne Fabrics. That might be less than new furniture if you have a good upholsterer (is that a word) near you.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pam
Happy Birthday, Tammy's Mom!
ReplyDeleteHow blessed you both are, to have each other. I'm sure that you have been a daughter that she has been proud and grateful to call her own.
I love Elvis' music, too!
Many Blessings,
Julie
PS...No, my birthday isn't the 8th...I just meant it's also in January! :) It's still a couple weeks away...:D
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure Joy would love Anne of Green Gables...my girls have just discovered her and it's fun to share it with them.
I'm pleasantly surprised how much my husband even likes it!
Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteI always wished I lived closer to my mom!! My mom used to write notes and scriptures on my lunch bag - I had several kids/teachers looking forward to reading them everyday.
