Simple Farmhouse Table Decor

I know it's not much, actually very simple, but I really love this little touch of farmhouse decor to the center of my kitchen table.

My mom and dad recently visited our friends, Betty and Richard, in the foothills of the Ozarks. They, (well the women), went shopping and my mom brought this home for me...two old milk bottles in a wire carrier. One says milk and the other says buttermilk. I had actually been looking for one of these, so I was real excited to get it! I can just imagine the milk man knocking on my backdoor delivering our morning milk.

It made a really cute centerpiece for our 4th of July celebration, simply with mini flags in the bottles.

Today it has daisies in them from my mom and dad's flower garden. I envision all sorts of flowers in there...some of my roses...flowers that Joy brings in freshly picked for me...whatever I'm blessed with at that moment. It makes such a cheery, happy atmosphere in my kitchen!

I'm thinking of even adding some powdered sugar....that might look alot like milk....for a change too.

Can you tell I'm excited about this simple little farmhouse decor on my table? I think it's because I've discovered lately that although I LOVE primitives in my decor alot...I still love a mix of farmhouse, americana and rustic decor. These four things combined define my style of decorating...I wonder what you would call that? I tend to like simple too, less clutter...which is also good for my budget! I find myself always attracted to the same things that fall into these four categories..so I guess I am remaining true to what I really love. Simply.....country, I guess.

  2. I like that very simple. Love the flowers. I tend to do things too big on my table and you have to move them to eat. So right now I have nothing on my table except a runner.

  3. I love it:) Try salt it would be alot cheaper, I'm like you I like a mix of those styles. One thing I found out is that I don't like the all very grungy, prim look just to drab for me.
Looks so neat on your table:)

  16. No matter what you call it, it is sweet and I love the simplicity!

I think mixing styles of country is what a lot of us do - it's less grungy and drab as ROndell says, and besides, if it feels right and we enjoy it, we should be able to use it, right?
And I think it is extra sweet that can pick some flowers for you!

  19. Yep, that's country; plain and simple. It's the way we are and we are proud of it!!!
I got a really neat milk bottle with a bubble type thing in the neck to keep the cream that rises to the top. I love it, too. Now, I have never seen a buttermilk bottle. I think that would be really neat!
    Good job, Mom!!
