Last Sunday afternoon after our freedom celebration at church, we took a drive around town. I had my camera with me and captured some photos so I could share them with you! Here are some homes in our community proudly waving their red, white, and blue....our American flag.
First on the tour, though, is our home and my mom and dad's home next door:
More homes in town proudly displaying their flags:
And my sister-in-law, Missy, (Richie's wife) sent me this picture of their home:
Oh say can you see, by the dawn's early light. What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight. O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so galantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free...and the home of the brave? ~ Francis Scott Key ~
Have you ever read the story of how our National Anthem came to be written? I think it's something we should all know. If you've never read it, here is a great (simple, but meaty) book to read to your children (or for yourself) that tells the story beautifully. Check it out!
God Bless America......the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Beautiful post, Tammy! I hope you enjoyed the 4th!
ReplyDeleteThose are some nice shots of the homes. Very patriotic. Nice to see you home Tammy.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Lovely town!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. hugs, Linda
I haven't read that book, but will have to look for it at the library! I love all the pretty homes showing their patriotism! Glad to see that you are back home. I missed ya!
ReplyDeleteJust looked at your blog after reading about it on the Country Sampler board. Beautifully done and I LOVE the Jimi Hendricks Star-Spangled Banner! I grew up in Baltimore so I was well-schooled in the story of the writing of the National Anthem and visited Ft. McHenry many times!

*my user name on this is incorrect, but I can't figure out how to change it!
I have the same book. It is sitting out on my coffee table right now! It's great, isn't it?!?
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are very lovely!
Hope you had fun at camp. It's good to have you home again. :)
I love how everyone decorates for the 4th, but I wish it was like that year round! Not only the colors but what it stands for.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing those pics, they are really cool.
Have a great week,
Stephanie
