Since we love strawberries around here, we planted our own this year. You may remember us getting that space ready awhile back.
Well as I figured.......the rabbits (alot of them around here) and birds love them too. So much so that just about the time we were getting ready to have ripe ones to pick, they would be gone....either the birds or the rabbits were treating themselves. It was so disappointing!.
So......we picked up a fake snake at Walmart to put out there to hopefully deter the birds and rabbits. It was so funny when we went to check out at the register, the clerk wouldn't even touch it....she asked Joy to scan it. Lol!
Anyway, I guess it's working because we got our first big juicy strawberry! Doesn't it just make you want to reach out and pop it in your mouth?
We move the snake around from time to time just in case we have some smart birds or rabbits. :)
Can you guess who enjoyed that first strawberry?
If you guessed Luke, you would be right. Joy had her eye on it, but Luke beat her to it!
We're looking forward to many more!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend! :)

Mama,
It sure does look nice and juicy! :) But Luke beat me to it, little sucker...stuffed the whole thing in his mouth. :P I keep thinking that one day there might be an actual snake in the strawberry patch and we may think it's the fake one. ;) Hope not!
Love you! 8!
Love,
Joy :)
Looks yummy! I cover my raised strawberry beds with the bird netting and secure it all around to deter the chipmunks an bunnies too;)
It's a perfect strawberry! Glad the snake is working.
We used a fake snake to keep woodpeckers off our home a few years ago.
Wishing you all a blessed Sunday.
My strawberries are ripe now too. Yours look delicious.
Oh yummy, yay!!! that first Strawberry looks delish...mine just started blooming....Love the pretty blue painted toes in the picture, :) Happy Sunday, Francine.
HI Tammy.....we have strawberries for the first time this year too!! we have been fighting chipmunks from them, I did end up putting a plastic fence around them, and my daughter had this repellent sprinkles from lowes she gave me, and it is working, it smells like garlic.... hubby said to go get a black rubber snake too, but so far I haven't had to do it.. we have gotten about 3 cereal bowls full... if you were closer I would share with Joy and Luke :)..... enjoy
Blessings
Rhonda
It looks so yummy ♥ I hope I can plant my own next year! Our neighbors have there's in a raised bed that is netted. They can remove the net when picking, but the critters don't get them that way! Enjoy ♥ It is the season for strawberries.
hello tammy,
wonderful strawberry!!!!mine just started blooming.
have a nice week,
regina
What a wonderful blessing! I love being able to go pick your own strawberries....enjoy those...well, if you get the chance too...lol Between the rabbits, birds and kids.. maybe next year you will. Blessings!
Oh I need one of those for my grapes!
we had skunks get in and eat ours. I was sooooo mad! They have left the patch to the west of the house alone, so I'm hoping we get some off of the few plants that have been transplanted there.
I hate snakes and am not sure I could have held a fake one either. LOL
How adorable is this post! NOT THE SNAKE! I am so scared of snakes! That is a perfect strawberry! Gorgeous!
I just planted 6 plants in cinderblocks for an experiement. I saw it on Pinterest and thought it was so cute! I may do more next year! They are just growing like crazy!
You are really doing Summer great already! :0)
Hugs,
Tanya
Joy....you get the next one!
We're waiting on our strawberries as they are not ready yet and we have a real snake living in there! Let me tell you Hubby will be checking on them for sure!! Love yours.
